My Dad custom order the Peterbilt 379 I have now in 1989 and it has electronic gauges that are having issues with not always working I suspect a possible ground problem but can’t find any info on them or even pics of another set, does anyone know anything about them?![]()

@Oxbow was it you that had one?
Oxbow and spsauerland Thank this. -
@DCT I had an 89 T600 that had one and still have an 89 378 that had one. I switched it out because a few of the functions weren't working. I believe the keypad was the culprit of most of the problems. I got a schematic from Pete that helped a bunch.
What problems are you having? There is a ground strap going to the back of the housing you might check. The dimmer for night driving that dims the dash when you turn on the marker lights might be something to look at. I still have the one that I took out if worst comes to worse.spsauerland, 062 and Bean Jr. Thank this. -
When you turn the key on all the gauges do there full sweep and zero out but when running the oil pressure is the only one that always works, the fuel gauge, mileage and trip odometer only read occasionally and everything else stays at zero, the keypad works to scroll through functions and the dimmer actually does work. I’m not stuck on having to make it work but trying to keep it as original as possible after my dad was killed in an accident almost 3 yrs ago I bought it from his estate and am trying to get road worthy after it’s sat since 2012.
Oxbow Thanks this. -
Think there's several places you could send the cluster to for repair. Might look online

This is the Kenworth manual, but I bet they are about the same for digital dash.

As I recall there is a lock ring that holds the wire harness plug to the back of the display. It may be possible that isn't tight. I believe one might be able to test inputs there with the plug removed. That guide that @spsauerland provided should be very helpful!
I could send you mine to try if you can't get yours going.DCT and spsauerland Thank this. -
Some gauges go to zero and others just go blank when there acting up, I haven’t tore much into them yet but will now that I have a bit more info and see what I can come up with.
Oxbow Thanks this. -
This is the day my dad brought it home.
Crude Truckin', AModelCat, spsauerland and 1 other person Thank this. -
That’s pretty cool for back in the day
It’s probably got some lose solder joints and leaky capacitors. I had to resolder the connector inside the tach when I first got my truck
Have you opened it up to look inside or is it all sealed up?
