Costco is strictly 40 hours. All drop and hook too.
National DCP/Dunkin Donuts is also strictly 40.
Shaw Flooring I think is 40 as well.
Grocery outfits like Wegmans and ACME pay by trip rate. So if you did a 12 hour run in 8, you still get paid the 12 with OT after 8.
LTL P&D can be 40 as well. I know UPSF and YRC drivers that get around 40-45 a week.
Hauling Mail is also 40 a week. USPS has 40 hour a week runs. Local Mail Contract Carriers also have 40 a week too.
Not 100% sure, but I think DLI is 40 a week too delivering automotive parts.
And I heard some Intermodal jobs are 40 a week too. -
A little hint I can't remember the last time I've been in a truck stop so maybe that's not the kind of place where you ask around about these types of positions. -
Work for a paving company. Get $21 per hour and it's real laid back where I'm at. You actually have to move your self from the seat though and get some exercise you lazy high cholesterol super trucker.

Private fleet.KillingTime Thanks this. -
With benefits such a touchy issue these days, I wouldn't be surprised if every trucking company someday goes to 39.9 hours,,,

8 hours a day, with regular hours is possible, but far from likely, especially as a new driver. You need to have a "in" to land something like that. Just not at all in the nature of trucking.

There are a number of jobs like this available in my area. Mostly manufacturers with fleets performing inter-plant movements, others, like big chain auto parts stores in and out of the DC.
