Mail route with a contractor. I ran to Jersey them Stamford from Greensboro NC once a week with a short haul to Charlotte once and a short to Greenville SC once a week. That was 40 paid hours/ week minus 30 minute breaks. All on duty was paid so sometimes it ran to 45 hours.

And I took home right under $1000/ week most weeks.

    1) Move to a large metropolitan city.
    2) Get a job with a private fleet or government.
    3) Work a crappy schedule for 5+ years
    4) Wait for senior drivers to retire, get fired, or die from old age.
    5) In 15 years you should be able to bid for a 9-5 schedule. That is if you survive driving around idiots in a large metropolitan city.

Gotta love the posters that are "I work 70 hours a week, and because of that if someone wants a better life they are lazy slobs."

Umm, hate to tell you, working 70 hours a week, killing yourself just to chase the almighty dollar is stupid in my mind. I run a load daily close to what the op asks for (8-9 hours a day, starting at 9am).
I make enough to pay my bills, and even finally am able to buy a house (back in April) I also actually get to see my daughter grow up and attend her school functions and all that type of stuff. So tell me how is this a bad thing?

    THANK YOU!

And drivers wonder why they get treated like garbage. It's because they don't demand anything better...

The thing is that when you're finally senior enough to get that perfect schedule, your kids will already be grown ups. That's when you go to work, sit on your throne, start up the engine, and say, "Life is good".

I work 45-50 hours a week regular day hours unless I'm hitting the road and running all day then I run at night.

There is more to life than work and driving a truck is just a job. I don't know why people just take it with driving.

i work for a small fuel company.
