I have a 4964 with a blown big cam 4 in it, I can buy a 8v92 for cheap. Not sure about rear end ratios. Truck has 13 speed, deep reduction, double diff lock.

I'm a bit confused. I have driven trucks with 8V92TA and 6V92TA, but that was long before diff locks were offered as I recall. Also, a 13 speed with a deep reduction? That's new to me. A 15 speed with deep reduction ( RTO 14615, or 12515) would have been built prior to when diff locks in each axle (cross locks) were available. Maybe I am wrong though.
I would think that it would be very hard to find parts for a two-stroke Detroit in this day and age. Being able to buy it for cheap and being able to make money with it are two different things.
In regard to rear end ratios, and tire size, two stroke Detroits do not like to pull hard below 1700 rpm, but they are a very durable engine. Fuel mileage in today's standards is going to suck regardless, but don't plan on being able to run a two-stroke at 1400 RPM all day.L9000 Thanks this. -
I just need it as a farm truck so mpg and parts aren't a huge problem. The truck is an 86 winch tractor.Oxbow Thanks this.

Do you know if there are any differences between engine mounts for the cummins or the Jimmy ?Oxbow Thanks this.

No I don't. I would assume so going from an inline to a V8 or V6. Maybe @SmallPackage can help. He'll probably be along before too long.SmallPackage Thanks this.

Engine mounts between those two are way different. Dimensions are different. In the White 4000’s, 9000’s, Road Commodes, and W-WS 4964’s the jimmy’s sat up higher over the frame rails than the Cummins do. Puts trans up higher too. Jimmy’s were rare. Cummins was their major supplier and standard offer back then. The jimmy engine mounts from just about any White made truck should work but still gonna be rare and since the WS’s were west coast specs they got the privilege to the use of way more aluminum parts than the others. Including aluminum frames. I’ve seen both cast iron and aluminum mounts used in them. Just about every other white used iron.

You may get the Detroit in there, but then the fun starts.
Throttle linkage.
Drive shaft will have to be lengthened.
Transmission is now moved forward so new clutch linkage.
Exhaust.
And the list will go on and on.
I did the opposite swap many years ago but I had both of the complete trucks for all the mounts, linkages, etc.
It still wasn't fun.Oxbow Thanks this. -
I always hear about how hard on fuel 2 stroke Detroits are, but my 6V92TA 335 is no worse than driving my pickup.
