I misunderstood his post then.
What's 1% come out to? Everyone I know that had/has that readout never gets close to what it says. I'm talking a half gallon or more difference. But then again we don't run long distances so that might make a difference?

Here is a link to that test by a diesel pu truck magazine: http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=177728
Or here is a great discussion in this forum about fuel additives: http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...-eighteen-wheelers/142678-fuel-additives.html
I am not putting Bio anything in my truck again if i can help it. Had a recent bad experience with Biomass added Diesel (not biodiesel).
I use http://mygauges.com/ website that is free to post all my odometer readings and fuel used at every fill up along with notes, fuel up locations, temperture and load weights. The truck computer on my truck is always way off by up to 1 mpg. The only way it can be done accurately is by what is used compared to the odometer that is if the odometer is right with the miles traveled. I have checked mine with the GPS too.
My truck is posted there as "Dice.s Truck" on http://mygauges.com/ with over 4,000 other trucks that can all be compared with filters to motor type, truck year, model and make. A very good useful tool for comparing your truck with others like yours and even compare modifications for fuel mileage on there too.Stile Thanks this. -
I watch my tank and dash difference closely because a problem with an injector, or a fuel drip will show up if that number varies.
To get a close match between tank and dash on a cat engine requires that the injector codes are entered correctly and that the fuel temp sensor is correct. Some of the mods that increase power do so by tricking the electronics of the engine and they will also through off the dash mpg. -
4.49 average mpgs in my 05 kenworth w900L c-15 cat 18 speed 72 inch bunk seems a lil low but you gotta remember we haul 100k plus gross i think the lowest was 4.35mpgs when i had 115k gross 73k in the box
Dominick253 Thanks this. -
It's great that some of you guys are getting 9, 10 & even 11MPG hauling half loads with the wind to your tail going down hill. But how 'bout some realistic numbers of trucks grossing 80,000lbs plus.
Dominick253 Thanks this. -
Averaging 4.7mpg. Always heavy, off road some of the time, run wet system some of the time and fairly low rear gears(4.33). So im not expecting better than where i am. Would be nice, 9mpg

If understood it correctly when it was explained to me. The ECM tracks MPG's differently than how we do it. We add in all time idled and run even when just barely moving. Was told the ECM doesn't count this time. I could be wrong but thats how it was explained to me and thats why the readouts never matched the numbers we calculate. -
