each new year seems to have less problems
for me the trucks that get cleaned out going 75 have less trouble then the 62 governed trucks less idle time less regens less trouble
2012 KW gave me a lot more trouble then these Cascadias
this 2015 has 110000 no issues yet
90% of repairs due solely to DEF system and sensors?

I love this cascadia. I don't ever want another KW.Cranky Yankee and 25(2)+2 Thank this.

We have nothing older than 2012 and nothing newer than a couple of 2014s. The SCR system hasn't stood out as a problem, and one of the 2014s has been in the shop quite a bit, last time to have the crank replaced. Both of those have as many miles as mine because I run regional and they run long or team.
Like I said, not that many issues, and the 2013s have been really good.joseph1135 Thanks this. -
I think I understand why the boss is buying those old timer farm trucks for the local guys, lmao.

So far our DEF trucks are doing a decent job, very little problem.
DPF are getting cleaned few hundreds hours before limit, idle is reduced to minimum especially in winter.
Touching woods..... -
I'm in a 2015 cascadia got it with 19 miles it now has 190k no problem at all only regular maintenance.
-
Cranky, that would mean that all European trucks have a lot more problems as there are no trucks there that can run 62M/h.(all are limited by law)
I think 2 factors are important
1°idle time
2°quality off the DEF.Ougigoug Thanks this. -
I am driving my 4th new truck with DEF, I had a brand new 2013 Pete 384, a brand new 2014 Pete 386, a 2014 Cascadia and now a 2015 Cascadia.
I have had the same cluster of issues with all of the trucks, one had a Paccar motor, one a Cummins and 2 Detroits.
First there was an engine maintenance light. It would come and go every few days. If it was on when the truck went to the dealer, they would hook up the laptop and turn it off. It would be on again the first time we climbed a hill under load. They could never seem to resolve this problem.
After a few months of chasing these dash lights, a check engine would come on with the engine maintenance. The truck would be cut back to 75% power and the engine light would go out after 5-10 miles leaving just the maintenance light on.
When the truck went in for the maintenance light, they hooked up the laptop and turned the light off. Now, the first time we climbed a hill under load both lights would come on and the truck would lose power for 5-10 miles and the the check engine would go out and it worked fine.
It progressed to a maintenance light, check light and a stop engine light and eventually a tow.
We run team, so once the trucks get to 250k miles or so, they move us into a new truck because the one we have is losing so much down time in the shop.
Our truck is maintained and leases from Ryder. They have tried to defer responsibility to Freightliner, Freightliner claimed it was WAJAX who was responsible for those components, WAJAX took it all apart and found no evidence of problem Ryder had reported to Freightliner and so after 2 weeks and 3 shops, no one would fix anything. We picked the truck up that time and had check engine lights and stop engine lights blaring 30mi from the shop.
No one seems to know how to fix these systems, shops push back at having to try to fix them and ultimately the owner and driver suffer because the truck won't run without it. -
of course, 90%of repairs are relaited to def and sensors.
IT'S WHAT RUNS THE TRUCKS.
isn't any different then cars. 90% of repairs are sensors. or some other issue electric.
don't want emission repairs. buy a vehicle made before 1980. or a truck older then 2004. but keep in mind. as each year goes by. those old vehicles get harder and harder to find. so either live with it. or don't drive. plain and simple as that. cuz the problems AREN'T going away.
my beach is this. the new electronic rollover and abs and all that other crap. that's what going to kill us.
i just about get run into the dirt everytime i take 90 degree ramp from I15 to I84. in northern utah. rollover sensors keeps aplying the left brakes.
or how about you guys with the following to closely braking -
Snowwy, when i read this post it gives me the impression that you blame the technology when in fact it is the lack off good technicians that is the real issue.
Lets take your anti rollover complaint.
Clearly there some settings not right if it activates in the wrong way.
For a decent technician it is less then 10 min off work to change those settings.
