SWAAN, my statement needs a bit of clarification I guess. 1) 12.7 blocks ARE NOT RATED to handle 1850 ft. lbs of torque. Only the 14 liter block can handle it. A stock ECM has a "safety feature" to NOT allow such a programming mistake. The bottom line is a 12.7 will not last if you can find a way around the Detroit programming to upload a 1850 ft. lb. torque rating. 2) Remember these are ELECTRONIC CONTROLLED engines using an ECM that is programmed from Detroit (regardless of who does it, ie: a Detroit or Freightliner shop). Detroit is the ONLY place you can get a program to be used in the ECM. You cannot take a blank ECM & put whatever you want into it as a program. EVERY DDEC ECM has to have all the programming from Detroit. The programming in a given DDEC ECM is based completely on the ENGINE SERIAL NUMBER. Things such a the fuel mapping & injector timing information is in the program. As well as all the other parameters, some of which can be changed depending on which DDEC engine you have. 3) A higher HP setting does NOT always mean a higher rating. Example: my 1999 Pete is a DDECIV engine. My ECM is currently set @ 500/1650. However, it can also be set as low as 370-430/1450. Or 430/1550, 430/1650, 430-470/1650, 470/1650 & 430-500/1650. You can have a higher HP tune programmed in but not a higher torque rating above 1650, as I stated above. You can also have a lot of ECM tweaking done as well.Sometimes it works & sometimes it doesn't. My ECM has a engine serial number from a Fitzgerald glider truck in it currently (local Detroit shop's idea) to see if we can resolve a few fuel economy & engine performance issues since I had the injectors replaced a few weeks ago. We shall see what happens over the next few weeks. I hope this post makes things a little clearer...

Cam tone wheel, cam gear, cam. Ecm and harness.

You wouldn't go to a 3, you would make it a 4.

Stick with a 2 unless your doing a overhaul.
