Either way this catastrophe could've been avoided if people REDUCED THEIR SPEED according to the weather conditions and if Maryland DOT did their "due diligence" in making sure the roads were salted accordingly, as there was PLENTY OF WARNING about this storm (at least 72 hours of advance notice).
drvrtech77 and stayinback Thank this. -
My motto is I don't give a crap what's in the trailer or on the trailer... My life and everyone around me is worth more than any Freight that I could ever haul

They did, in some places.
I haven't been through that stretch of 95 since the last time I did my DOT physical, but we have this salt brine solution that gets put down as a pretreater. I do know for certain this was done along the main thorofares on the eastern shore where I go such as US-13 and 50, but I don't know if this was done here. If it wasn't, someone has some explaining to do at the very least. -
Great post- Unfortunately,The majority of people don't think this wayQuietStorm, mjd4277 and KillingTime Thank this.

I don't know what the weather was like there, but Arctic blasts can cause problems trying to get the salt down when they are preceded by rain. They can't salt until the rain stops, and oftentimes the temp drops so fast that everything flash freezes before they can get everything salted after the rain quits.Big Don Thanks this.

Right on, man.
I'm not buying the farm because I've got a JIT of hygienic #### that Target needed 3 days ago. You'll just have to deal with those massive pimples and the associated teenage angst because the Noxima isn't rolling in until I do. Which I will; when I do. -
Sad man....really sad...that video just shocked me enough to just say no for a while....no more Lake Erie lake effect driving. It has been really bad in OH and PA and NY.
I am watching radar and listening to the phone reports from my wife and no more pushing it....Hammer166, mjd4277 and stayinback Thank this. -
I went up through Erie last week on my way to Manchester.......I cleared that Belt in the Nick of Time on my way back- Stopped in Geneva,Oh to gas up.....Then I told them to enjoy the "lake" snow-
Timing of this stuff plays a huge role too.......You can Still make your money if you Time things- Something the dumb ELD will not allow If it really becomes a lawLast edited: Dec 17, 2016

Putting a thermometer in your truck is certainly a wise thing to do. I'll be doing that myself very shortly.
Mattflat362 and stayinback Thank this.
