Yawn, Ridgeline, you don't get it.
The best technicians in the country come from the same school of thought as you. I have purchased a Galaxy 99 from each of them and the performance was a joke compared to the one Mark tuned.
Then to be doubly sure, Mark and Jack Thurston each tuned another identical rig and the results from Marks 2 rigs was double the distance of Jacks 2 rigs.
Jack was just as skeptical as you, and felt he was one of the best techs in the country
(he really is one of the best) and he failed to see how the results could mean such a drastic difference in performance. Needless to say, Jack has integrity and no longer works on radios for a living and has become fairly close friends with Mark and has learned a couple things he had overlooked during his years as an excellent radio technician.

I do get it, after 40 years of hearing the same crap, different name, it is nothing but the same, always has some one who cheerleads for the "tech" and he may be good but there is always someone better. It isn't rocket science.
By the way, why is it that I have a regular conversation with one of my drivers that normally starts about 35 miles away?
Mark didn't work on either radio, but it is a normal mobile to mobile conversion that happens often around 35 miles.
I know you are into the noise floor thing so I will tell you the radio I used this morning has a noise floor of -137dBm. It is without a preamp and this is an ugly construction radio to make it more interesting.
By the way, I bet the FCC already knows of Mark, they ain't stupid.Dirtymartini15x, bored silly and rabbiporkchop Thank this. -
I'm not a cheerleader so much as on a quest to find someone else capable of duplicating or surpassing his results which hasn't happened yet.
-
@Ridgeline, is that the custom-designed radio you talked about a while back?
rabbiporkchop Thanks this. -
Yes it is the first prototype, it works well but looks like crap.bored silly and rabbiporkchop Thank this.
-
Still interested if/when you decide to go to market with it.
-
Yeah it depends on how well I heal up and when before I can consider it for the market. Right now they are working on the software, I could not find the bug in it but the group said they found it and fixed it, just haven't gotten the new stuff back. The second prototype got new insides a couple weeks ago with a new front end design, it lost some of the noise floor sensitivity but it is still better than -125dBm but selectivity and overall receive sounds a bit bettter, it is on par with my other high end radios.
I just don't know how it will compete with the junk out there now.bored silly and rabbiporkchop Thank this. -
