you can get by with less; but less wont help you more when it comes to doing different things.jamespmack, beastr123, Bean Jr. and 4 others Thank this. -
102 for sure. Especially since your hauling different things. If l had to have an oddball trailer I'd rather have a shorter trailer than a narrower trailer. If the 96 had a roll-tite mounted on the outside of the rubrail than l might be tempted just because 102 with a roll-tite are so wide they can be a pita.

Lots say 96 is as good as 102. They must not be chasin the same freight I am.
102 all the way1mm3406e, cke and Diesel Dave Thank this. -
I’ve hauled Oversized loads that are just barely over 102” wide (104”, 106”), never flagged it but wrote it up as Oversized and have gotten paid as an oversized load. You would be able to tell on a 96” but not on a 102”, one of the advantages.

I'll admit, this fat kid will get a 102" next trailer. 42'x96" with a hide kit is getting hard to slip between boards and a coil. Might have more to do with me, than trailer but.... It's only good for certain freight.

A lot of times I wish I had only 96 inches in order to slip into the tarping bay at the alcoa tn aluminum plant. I have seen a few wide trailers get all scraped up trying to get in one of those things.

Just curious. What percentage do you guys pay when registering truck for sales tax. I think rates are different in other states though. Thanks
