When the a/c quits, your compressor is no longer turning, but yet there is power at the compressor connector? Is this right? If so the coil is probably going bad in the compressor clutch, or has a bad ground. The power for your compressor is after all the switches and stuff, so the only thing preventing the compressor from working at that point is the clutch coil or the compressor grounding.
