I pay 1.99 where I'm at. No fuel surcharge but I also don't run many miles a week either. Been with them 4 years and that's our fuel price. Not exactly sure how they do it.

Where I'm at, today's price is $4.10 per gallon (converted from liters to US gallons and Cdn to US currency). And getting the full fuel surcharge is rare for us. Usually it's baked into the price per mile. For example, $1.75/mile pulling gross 102,400 lbs in the mountains, and that's with the surcharge in the rate. Crazy huh?!?

Wasn't the whole national average thing set up so that fuel would be set at .99 across the board to begin with? It isnt super hard math but since there are those that dont understand it I could see why a company may simplify it where the drivers wouldn't be calling multiple times asking what the fsc is over and over. And I wouldn't call it a bad thing as long as they are using the national average and not there own inflated one.

They contract to buy x amount of fuel for a discount. Probably need to buy so much from a certain place also. Including a place that isn't doing so well and has high prices to get the deal. Sometimes company fuel stops/routing goes to undesirable places/prices for fuel.

I remember TA wanting to play Hardball with Prime about pricing. Prime just quit buying fuel from them for a while. It didn't last long. Yep, megas are evil.
