  1. In the settlement it says that they are within their legal rights to hold some if not all of what's owed to you in the event of your discharge. You signed it.

Nice read. Do they allow you to have a certain amount, like .10/.15 cents per mile deducted from your settlement and placed into a separate escrow account so that lets say something comes up you will have this money in a account to take care of truck payment or extra maintenance

These new-fangled whisper units are hardly noticeable. When you get into the swing of things, you'll immediately wake up if the reefer doesn't start or stop for whatever reason. Keeps you from having a screwed up load.

Yep, and I realize that. With the longer runs you guys seem to do early hr appt times would be more doable than a lot of shorter runs with daily pu and deliveries. What brand of reefers do they use, I've heard the thermo kings are quieter than carriers.

  6. I've seen both carriers and tk's.

  7. In orientation the other L/P driver asked about splitting percentages of his paycheck between 2 separate accounts. You can always move the money around yourself after you get paid.

I talked with Dan Wagner at A and A yesterday. He sent me some info on their lease program. After reading another thread on them I'm having 2nd thoughts. The lease and the miles and pay don't sound bad at all but If I'm going to take a week off here and there I don't want them messing with my payments by doing the whole months worth at once..
My plan was to take a few days every 10 or so and then take 4 weeks off (1 at a time) over the course of a year. I live in an area where I would be able to get by the house to do the 3 to 4 off every 10 or so.
Someone else said they had taken all of his monthly payments out at once because he took a couple of weeks off.......have you heard anything like that? If that's their policy it is almost like they have lost a lot of lease drivers in the past and want to make sure they get their payments before the driver ditches. Just wondering your input. Thanks for all your posts and good luck out there.

  9. I've learned that when it comes to trucking, I can't rely on what another driver says. I feel like if you manage your finances, then you have nothing to worry about. As an owner operator, you have monthly fees, if you're worried about paying them, maybe it's not time to take off. Just my advice. Figure out what works, and make it work.

Nor can you trust the salesperson that's selling you something, I learned that a long time ago.
I'm not worried at all about managing fees or monthly expenses. I've owned 3 different businesses. 2 were successful, 1 was not. I know from experience that making a business work is all about knowing exact costs, expenses, income and when payments are due....not flying by the seat of my pants or hoping that things will fall onto place if I work hard. I'm not interested in running constantly and never taking ANY time off and getting penalized if I do. Life's too short for that BS.
I simply was trying to get info from a current driver from A and A as to what their policy was as he knew it.....no need to get testy about it. Looks like you're not the one to ask. Carry on/

  11. I didn't intend to sound testy. But what do you mean by getting penalized?
