A billionaire and his bridge

Why does this guy think that a bridge for "backup only" would help? If he wants to spend $500 mil and make another bridge, he needs to:

* Build another bridge "adjacent" to the ambassador bridge
* Temporarily shut down the ambassador bridge and completely repave it. Seriously, anyone who's ever crossed it knows that it's about as smooth as the surface of the moon. It's like when you go to a truckstop that "used to be paved".
* Re-open the ambassador bridge and keep both bridges permanently open, except for temporary maintenance shut downs (which arent even possible with the ambassador right now)

Also, he does not have a monopoly. The Blue Water Bridge, which connects Sarnia ON and Port Huron MI, is not out of route for travel to/from Toronto. At the 401/402 junction, 401 dips south towards Windsor, and 402 pretty much heads straight to Sarnia..the dip south is made on i94 in the US.

Really, why doesn't he offer to partner up with the governments, his $500 million could go towards the bridge and duty free shops, and the government money could go towards setting up the customs checkpoints and emminent domain takeovers of private property for all this crap....

And it sure would be nice if they could make a bridge that is directly connected to the freeways. The situation in windsor isnt bad at all, just keep rolling on the same surface street until it turns into a freeway, but...the situation in detroit sucks. The first time i tried to get to US customs at night, i got lost....

Also, look at all the crap this Moroun guy has done...

* He "borrowed" a lane off a city street because his bridge is so important.
* He bought private properties, and just left them abandoned and decaying (he owns all those abandoned buildings behind the concrete wall where he borrowed a lane of the road!)
* He has done nothing to make these complexes look nice. Come on, whats the point in buying all these buildings and just leaving them abandoned and ugly? Hell, he could even help out making the ghetto the bridge is in look nice. But noooo, its all about money money money money. Honestly, if i owned that bridge, I couldn't stand to allow it to be a huge eyesore. The bridge itself is beautiful.
* He built around a privately owned baitshop, because he wouldn't offer the owner a fair price to buy him out, and allow him to build something outside. You have to drive onto maroun's property to get to the dang baitshop. wtf?
*WHY WONT HE REPAVE THE BRIDGE?


By the way, whats up with that little guardshack looking thing on the sidewalk in the middle of the bridge?
