I backed a truck into a dock for a Wal-mart dedicated fleet driver once when I worked at Wal-mart
Cute little Puerto Rican girl. I still have her number.. -
That's a PackRat! They still have everything.
7122894003481 and Southpaw7391 Thank this. -
I actually ran into her again at the Los Lunas, NM Walmart DC when I was doing Werner drop and hooks. We talked for a bit.
She still looks good.

Its a one way street with the docks on the right hand side of the street.

I commend you for helping this guy out. Although he's not near ready to be driving (how'd he get his CDL anyways?). No way I'd hook up to somebody elses trailer and back it or do anything with it due to the big liability issues that Condo brought up earlier.

When I was at Walmart , our vendors with tractor trailer units would often shag empty trailers out of our docks all the time so we could receive their trucks. I guess the fact it was Walmart trailers on Walmart property done at the request of Walmart employees with the blessing of management limited any potential liability issues.
We usually had the Coke driver do it as he was always the first one there..
Swift drivers would never do it, it was prohibited by Swift. Not because of liability, but because Walmart wouldn't pay extra for the service!Last edited: Jan 19, 2012

I thought so. I had a regular customer like that in Birmingham, AL that sat on a corner is why I asked. Traffic was none to light and drivers would come up the side street and run up the wrong way a hundred feet or so. You have to tie up the street regardless. It just made things alot easier, safer and quicker. Too many things can happen in a blind back without a spotter.
If there is a side street beside a customer in that situation, give it consideration.kw9's rock Thanks this. -
Today I had to back uphill and make a turn at the top, was off road as well. Did it twice, once empty and once loaded. It was sight side though.

Consider this: Driver turnover at large fleets is at 89% per "the trucker". The replacements have to come from somewhere so maybe a street corner is as good a location as any? Or straight out of school?
