I stand corrected. This is what happens when you are online when you ought to be out for the night. I intended to word it as to sale of 134 not the recovery. Hcfc & cfc require certification to purchase. Apologies to all. Yes I am actually an ase certified master truck tech.
Since we're off topic already....did you know Ma Bell was the world's largest consumer of R-12? According to a former employee they would chain cylinders of it to telephone poles where they had moisture issues and run a hose into the line to keep moisture down and from causing service problems until the could be repaired. Once he told me that I remembered seeing those cylinders as a kid around town.
Thats my thinking,.. just unplug the wire so the clutch wont engage and should be fine. Am I wrong? Hurst
Well, it's illegal to just dump out refrigerant like that, but... you know... I've had to change out an AC compressor on the roadside when it seizing up caused a belt to break, and the replacement part was more readily available than a shorter belt which would work as a bypass.. we don't carry an AC machine on the service truck.. draw your own conclusions, I'm not admitting a #### thing. Anyhow, you'll have to get the receiver-drier replaced when you get it all put back together. That is all. If the clutch (or entire compressor) is seized, then it could very well prevent the pulley from turning, period, engaged or not. That's going to eat through belts like one of these 'double wide' drivers at the TA buffet.
Because its probably not on a separate belt. I know on my C15,.. the Alt is the only accessory on its own belt. Everything else is encircled by the primary serpentine. Hurst
