A lot of companies will require you to take a refresher course. If you came off the road in April( that is some 8 months ago almost) most carriers see that as to long and will make you take a refresher driving course, and then they will start you out as a new driver if they will hire you. SO essentially you may be starting over. My advise is that if you want to get back out driving is you may want to consider hopping in a dump truck for a while and at least you are driving that way and try to find somebody local who will hire you. Like I said, You're probally looking at starting over if you go to a national carrier. You might also try a local beverage hauler, like COke or one of the beer distributors--they are always looking for experienced tractor-trailer drivers. -
Never thought I'd say this but TransAm was actually a pretty decent place to work. I just wouldn't recommend the lease program!!!

that gap thing might be a problem but you can try maybe KLLM they have a terminal in alanta, ga they seem too be a decent company. They were going too hire me but I had blood pressure issues when I went for orientation but got that tooken care off and working for someone else know. But Kllm drivers seem happy the few that i've talked too.

also they hire students so they would probably be able too get you with a trainer.
