Do many modern Diesels often need a rebuild due to just being worn out? I don't think so... Usually they just blow a headgasket and then get rebuilt. in my opinion a dyno won't show much that you couldn't see anyway. but maybe I'm wrong

When discussing new truck versus old truck. On a brand new truck all the parts are new. The life expectancy on those new parts are longer than one that is already wore out… not rocket science. If your truck is down, you’re not making money. If your truck is running, you may. It’s hard to keep a customer happy if your truck is down for repairs -that means someone else would be serving your customer. If your plan is to run the Spot market, you probably have failed to acknowledge anything about the business of logistics. That’s what’s been going on in the history of trucking. The Spot market is scraps and overages. If you don’t have direct customers already, I would consider leasing onto a company that does. I’m not telling you what to do, just recommending that you consider. You did state that you’re willing to take risk. But if the chance of success is so small because the risk is so high, why would you think that you would be successful? I know a lot of people don’t think that they’re gonna fail in the hard work which just push them through. But these are the same people that refuse to actually work hard. They refuse to save a small fortune to start a company after years of hard work before they actually go in business. These are the same people refuse to perform hard work and start with direct customers versus the Spot market. When someone starts with the Spot market they’re basically going to the lazy way in and have May have a little understanding what is hard work. Not everyone applies to this, but it is something to consider.

FullMetalJacket and Cleduskenworth Thank this. -
I suggest you learn as much about the logistics field and sales before you dive in. Give your business the respect that it requires. And give it all you got! go for the win off the get-go.
