I am driving a 2014 Volvo. Very nice, I was driving a million-mile Peterbilt before this.

But this Volvo is freaking me out.

The sleeper lamp has a mind of its own. It turns on by itself randomly, and wont shut off despite repeated attempts from both the dash switch and the sleeper controls switch.

The dash switch will turn it off but only when held, release the switch and the light comes back on.

The sleeper switch works about half the time, and I think once it works, after a few hours maybe, it will continue to do so until I start the engine again.

I read the manual, no clues.

I played with the sleeper controls quite a bit but no help there, except that once I got an apparent error code: "e01", but I cannot find any listing of error codes.

I kinda sorta get the feeling it has something to do with the low voltage display, even tho I have no reason to believe the voltage ever gets lower than it should be.

Oh, and sometimes when I am driving, the sleeper control will start beeping randomly. And sometimes when I try to shut off the lamp from the dash, it beeps.

Any ideas on what the heck is going on??

Welcome to the world of crappy electrics. Volvo big weakness. They use too light of a gauge of wire and lousy build quality. Probably you have a trapped wire somewhere. Try and find the group 37 wiring diagram for your year..

A baseball bat or hammer will get rid of that ghost. Just take away the toy its playing with!

My local news group had a special come out about "ghost" electronics in cars. I'll see if I can't find the article or video and post it. It may be a long shot, but who knows? Maybe the same thing afflicting so cars is what's going on with your rig.
