Just switched to a flatbed trailer and was willing to get a headache rack. But I have an accu bunk heater and there is no space for u bolts on one of the sides. Yet I see trucks with the system and rack installed. Can someone share how did you fasten it? Was looking for flat u bolts or something but just didn't come to a solution

It turns out to be not espar but dual hvac. Regardless, it has a battery in the frame

Hmmm so im guessing that espar system is in the way? Is it possible you could relocate it? This is how my headache rack is mounted. The bottom support beams of the rack sit on top of 1inch thick rubber/nylon pads then large ubolts with a flat piece bolt it to the frame.. U should be able to look around online and find some headache rack mounting kits

Why 1” thick? I’ve only ever seen / used half that of less.

Agreed, more than that, if at all possible keep the bolt end DOWN, too easy to catch your foot on the protruding end

Guess it could be he only had a short socket, so a 1 inch pad made install easier (looks like 2 1/2" pads)

Did mine with a single 3/8 pad yesterday, but put a small one between ubolt and aluminum as well

Some more wider angle shots to get a better idea of things would be ideal, maybe chalk mark or mark on a peice of wood the possible range of the ubolt locations.

What i see is that one side usually will have one ubolt that is a pain no matter what you do

What does it matter how thick it is? The guy is trying to figure out how to mount a headache rack. In every thread there is people that add nothing to it
