I recall as part of military history reading a article in passing, nuclear scanning or surveys in particular... requires spaces free of radiation. In order to get that room, you needed thick steel plate made any time prior to 1945. Armor plate from the scuttled German WW1 fleet was cut out and fashioned into such rooms because they do not themselves contain internally radiation as found anywhere after 1945 in steels made since then. There is a finite supply of that steel plate. And as the future demands more of it it may evolve into a problem where wargrave ships prior to '45 might be harvested.
If there is any place in America I would like to go to someday free of most radiation would be Green Bank West Virginia. Its a tiny place a national banned zone against most all radio emissions from old style CB on up. There is a observatory there capable of detecting a smart phone resting on the surface of Uranus in airplane mode emitting very little.
You can imagine the interference when Billy Ballbreaker gets on the CB "Breaker uwn eine...."
It would be a incredibly quiet place to live with wired internet that is barely equal to what i am using now. Because that Observatory needs such a internet. No wireless or anything.
A helping hand

i was an avionics tech for most of my time the marines.. If you walk past the antenna of an f/a-18 while it is running a transmit test, youll drop to the ground all burned up from the RF energy. Never seen it but thats what the safety briefs always said. We worked on radar altimer, iff and tactical antenna modules on test benches in the shop. You keyed them right next to your nuts all day. There was always the rumor that sterility was an issue for lifers. I had 2 kids so clearly didnt work too hard!
Your microwave does emit RF so dont stare at it all day.

A friend of mine bought one of the first Microwaves, I think it’s a Quasar brand. Cost a bundle in the 70s. Still uses it. It’s got a big fuse inside of it. Been replaced at least 4 times.
