it's really the fact it's a direct connect to the batteries you'll get full power... I've got the 4ga.kit from Walcott it runs from the closest battery up into the driver's side firewall I run it snake it alongside under the pedals fuel/brake tucked in. it runs in front of the dog house on the floorboard only up into the radio. you don't want a high power radio wire or high power amp wire touching your dash if at all possible .just saying that for when you go to the n4 or big Stryker deal.... .lots of cb shops and men have figured out about power cords touching that dashboard lots of ju ju running in those lines wattage/amperage wise

Been running from back battery up along the flairing into engine comp..In through firewall,up the pillar post to dash and across to radio in the ctr of my dash..Dont like it there it partly blocks some of my view..So i cut a piece of multi angled alumium(to keep from bending)and im gonna use the holes in the upper console to mount it then mount radio to that..Something like in this pic..See the factory vent holes on either side of this radio..My bracket will go from visor to visor..Leaves room if i wanna add a bigger radio/add a meter.. imagescobra.jpg

My suggestion is run power from battery furthest away from engine...Less static noise possibility from injectors, engine, alt and trucks electronics..

I ran a Pete few years ago and i did as you said, radio/amp were bolted onto homemade bracket and the bracket was bolted onto the shifter plateform with just the right angle for easy use while driving.

I tend to believe that big wire should be as short and direct to radio/amp but in some case this is not always easy to accomplished.

I have the exact same mount in my truck and i use it with a i pad and it didn't shake too much.

But if you could use only the pole section and put the stand directly attach to the pole it almost wouldn't shake at all.

They are expensive but they are the best rack you can find!

I bought a ram mount for my gps..Hate it in my window, espically come winter..Suction cup creates a cold spot on the window and starts to freeze there before the rest of windshield..
As for the mount...I ran with a fella once who made one outta pvc plastic piple...Same stuff you use for plumbing..
