I would urge you to send me a picture of yourself sans clothing. That should sober him up quickly.

Well that escalated quickly.

Wife says to a mechanic: My brakes are grinding. Can you fix them?
Husband says to wife: Honey, I am the man of the house...I will see about the cars.
Mechanic says to husband: If you were the man that you say you are, your wife would have never had a reason to speak to me. -
Yeah. I don't know how much detail about how many drinks I pounded I'd go into but I'd just tell work there was a death in the family and I needed the day off.Last edited: Feb 28, 2017

I don't know, but I tend to agree with six. I am sorry for your loss, however it's his responsibility to provide for his family. Don't lie though! Hung over is not drunk, but it's not a way to be driving a truck either. Tough spot!
Auctioneer Thanks this. -
A good hangover can last a couple days. usually if you quit drinking at 2 am or whatever on Sunday morning you've got 22 hours left of Sunday to lay around like a sack and at least the first 6 or 7 hours of Monday before its off to a rainy, traffick-y, grumpy faced Monday morning! My 7th grade science teacher called that "the Monday zone". Always cracked me up. He was a funny guy.

Being hung over is being under the influence. Not saying you are drunk, but a hangover definitely has a negative influence. Do not drive. He'd be far better off getting fired from this company than getting in an accident or getting a dui because he drove. Get a duo and he'd be fired from every company for a number of years.

For future reference: 1 oz of alcohol, 1 beer/glass of wine/shot, takes an average of 1 hr for your body, via liver, to process and eliminate it. From that fact it should be easier to calculate the point in which alcohol has left the system. Red bull, asprin, and gatorade in combination work pretty well on the hang over aspect. ( Extensive research on this in my youth.)
As for the other aspects of advice, I follow the principle of 'need to know' which boils down to not lying but leaving out most if not all of the details. You stated something like personal business needs attendance. Perfect in my book. As also stated, he's a good driver, I'm going to assume he has more than a year behind the wheel of a big truck. He hasn't damaged too much freight, traded paint, or racked up tickets and can be verified by his CSA score. They won't want to lose him.
Too much freight is a reference to car hauling. I don’t know what he moves. Anyone that hauls cars and claims they haven't damaged any is either 1. Lying, 2. hasn't moved any full time quantity.
