I want one.
People really don't pay attention. Used to deliver product to C-Stores using a 48ft refer. On several stops had to pull out into the street and back into the parking lot. Never fails, 4ways on, reverse alarm beeping and rolling backwards, a 4wheeler would pull up behind me and sit there. Had one so close that the only thing I could see was the edge of her mirror. Finally had to get out of the truck and tell her she needed to move. Of course I was blocking traffic the whole time.
a Lupe type question..

Backup lights on trailers??? I 53' of trailer as do most of us, so might not apply. I cant ever see my rear doors at anytime. Do you want to put the lights shining off to the sides of the trailer? All inexperienced and experienced drivers know and can see there trailer tandoms and rear of trailer in there flat or fish mirror using the ambient light around them, the light at docks or truck stops, or light from there marker and tail lights. Is there a problem with viability, no there isnt, if there was MFing DOT would have already forced all drivers to do it. If you ment the lights as a warning to others like the beep, why not just hit your flashers like you are sposed to when ever you back up., You think you should put them high beams shooting off to the sides maby?
Fatigue is one of DOT's biggest focus its the sole reason for logs. Fatigue is a headache for all truckers. Now if all trucks were forced to go BEEP and have these spotlights blasting out the sides of there trailer when they are backing up it would just add more headache at truck and rest stops where the rest of truckers sleep. They already have to deal with truckers like me, running reefer. A lot of drivers go into truck stops with there headlights on, hit there engine breaks blatently disrespectful. Truck stops are where truckers are sleeping to avoid fatigue , a few trucks beep like hell for the 30 minuts or so it takes the flunky driver to back there truck in next to you. We got enough crap keeping us from getting a good sleep to deal with we dont need no more.
These lights would add almost nothing to any safety factor, would not make it easier, and would only serve to fatigue resting truckers even more, making them more fatigued and dangerouse on the road. This would lead to more fatigue related accidents, and even more BS passed down form DOT. -
I guess he told all of you!!!

I have seen allot of O/O's pulling spread axle reefers with 2 White lights mounted in the center of the back of the trailer or on a chrome piece between the bottom of the trailer and the DOT bumper. I like the idea as they can be used as utility lights when needed and help in dark holes.
When I have a dark hole to back into sometimes I'll use my utility lights, all depends on where im backing in, in some cases it creates to much glare and you cant see anything lol

I agree with you about the fans and the noise from the pump cycling, but you know how those enviromentalist are!

I thought it was more of a 4 wheeler thing to see the white lights in reverse like a car, not so much for driver guidance.
