I would like to add that lately, more often than not I see new drivers, drivers wanting to learn how to drive truck. That should be sent back to at least learn to drive a car properly that are given the opportunity and set loose after some training but still can't drive and just bring those bad car driving habits with them.

Many new truckers have never driven a car or had a Class-C license until they decided to be a trucker. So, they quickly get the Class-C license, which they must have for at least 12 mos. before any trucking company will hire them after cdl school. There's people in their 20's that have never had a Class-C license or driven a car.

Say what you want....& think what you want (that's what forums like this one are basically for anyway, right?)....but I can certainly offer....that if a driver thinks & drives like that....said driver won't last long at all over at Schneider.

It only seems all too reasonable to expect the same basic thinking over at Roehl, Werner....& others of similar ilk.

Other carriers closer to "the fringe" (e.g., the 1099, Illinois-based crowd...or similar) may...on the other hand... be more willing to look the other way....:dontknow:

Just because a driver is new is not a reason to start the career with a low paying carrier.
I made that horrible mistake because when I started there was no website like this one to learn from.
I started with dry van and a guy in my cdl school class started with reefers.
I qualified for food stamps and, even back then, he was bumping $800 to a thousand a week pulling reefers coast to coast.

That all depends....on who's hiring....& who's not....at a given point in time....based on where the new driver resides.

It also depends obviously on the new driver's previous driving & criminal history.

It's largely a "reap what you sow" world -- & someone with a checkered past should not expect a strong start for pay. :dontknow:

oh, so your point being, it's ok to do U-Turns at any time..??

as far as the website, i'm glad it's out there, for all the people to see the dumbarses in the industry and to push thier elected officials to make it tougher on truckers.

i was out there for 48 years, i'd make the same comments as the Bone Head trucker guy does. and wel....many times i do.

you advocate breaking the laws, doing U-Turns is fine and dandy

i advocate revoking the CDL for life for ANY accident a bone head trucker causes.

that 4 wheelers NEVER deserved what she got.

she was on her way to either work, or school, and she had every right to be on that highway, at that time of day, knowing she was going to get to her destination.

but you would have her chastised for doing so..??

i think that you need to turn in your CDL, as i view YOU as a hack, unprofessional steering wheel holder.....

I spent a some years being the one that got to evaluate new drivers coming from some of those companies you mention as well as many others that one might include in that list and can say most of the time I wasn’t impressed at all! I will however be clear that the drivers that came from Schneider didn’t have any of the scary things that the others had as bad habits.

    #### shame. I bet it didn’t take law enforcement long to get there. I’m through there pretty often, state & locals work that area hard. FYI, red lights in that town will send you a ticket in the mail for speeding.
