No oversize driver would attempt that turn in those conditions with that much traffic c’mon now.

You’re right. We all just park until it’s nice a sunny out. /s

the only traffic is see is a
4 wheeler doing 20 over in the rain not paying attention. Had they been going the speed limit, that truck would have been long gone by the time they got there.

Break down the video and prove the speed you suggest!
The truck driver should have never attempted this U turn and any driver would have been taken by surprise by the truck suddenly taking off right across the hole roadway including you.
Most would have expected them to only be getting back on in the right lane and apparently She was prepared for that.

I don’t think a jury would ever see it that way but hey if it works for you by all means!

Well the camera truck has a speed of 59 and she passed him, possibly they could have slowed down after. They never moved out of the right lane so i don’t see her being prepared for a slow moving truck in the right lane. We have no way of knowing that.

I have to make a very similar turn into a customer in ga with a 64’ rgn. Left hand turn onto a 18’ wide cut through across the median from a 4 lane road. To make that turn I need to be in the right hand lane and the crossover needs to be empty.

I typically will set up straddling the zipper with my 4 ways on and slow traffic way down. I’ll put my left signal on, swing right, and cut hard left. I can’t count the amount of times I’ve had people cut across my hood or go into the grass to get around me.

obviously this is not the same situation as a u turn in the rain, but up until impact my trailer is in a very similar situation. Never underestimate peoples lack of attention, stupidity, or impatience. The u turn driver was in the wrong but the 4’s speed and possible inattention seems to be contributing factors.

Actually, Ike is (or at least was recently) a driver; his early videos have him wearing a headcam while driving a day cab around the Dallas area, making deliveries. He used to work for Schneider at one point, too. I'm betting his videos are by now his sole source of income, but he certainly does have a CDL and years of experience.

Watching this particular video, it's pretty obvious that this driver lacks experience (or at least common sense..); he seems to 'forget' that there is still 60' of vehicle behind his ###, and THAT ain't gonna clear the lane for at least 5 seconds after he himself does! This is not only a 'preventable' accident, it's gross incompetence. He'll probably catch a charge for vehicular manslaughter for this ####-up, which will result in a felony record and probably at least a year in the penitentiary, as well as loss of his CDL.

I will have to watch it later on a bigger screen but it looks to me as if she started to go a bit left then decided to stay to the right. A little hard to see clear on this device but my count of the seconds doesn’t have her at 20 over by any means.

I am not sure that I all the way agree. The trucker definitely fouled up here, but here's my issue with the 4 wheeler....she didn't get over to the hammer lane nor did she slow down. She was driving too fast for conditions as you alluded to. I feel like she might have been able to avoid that accident had she been paying attention. The truck looks like it was well into the turn before she noticed that he was out in the road, and that's when the brakes came on. I am not excusing the trucker by any means because he wasn't paying attention either. If he had been more patient, he definitely could have got away with it. As I said in my previous post, I wouldn't have done it there, but I've seen drivers make far riskier U-turns with less space. Sometimes drivers, particularly newer drivers, panic when they get into a pickle. I only wished he had took time to assess every possible scenario.
