This is what they all fail to see or want to acknowledge!
I see this behavior from truck drivers all the time. They pull out with something approaching and expect that the approaching vehickle will be paying attention and yield to them. The law is not written in thier favor and if any one of those they technically cut off hits them they will be found at fault for being wrong in the first place.
It’s gotten so bad that these steering wheel holders will even cut off an other truck within short distances and get mad at the driver if you blow your horn or give a look of disappointment at thier stupidity. Guess it would have been your fault or mine for hitting him if he did this to you and as you approached you heard a load noise that seemed to come from the trailer and took the second to look, or if a car on the left looked like it was going to move and it devided your attention just enough to force a second thought.
It was raining, a so called professional driver should have known visibility was playing a big factor, the car driver had the right away, cutting off all lanes weather the u turn is legal or not is unsafe and to be carried out reasonably safe requires the cooperation of those other drivers weather they are trucks, cars or motorcycles. He should also know that other drivers are not always aware, driving as defensively as they should, paying attention to the right part of thier surroundings, they could be fiddling with thier phone, thier defroster, struggling to get the wipers working, in deep thought about the excuse they will give for being late. It really doesn’t matter as the bottom line is the truck driver is a bone head and I would bet thousands of dollars he is one of those drivers that cuts in front of others at the last possible moment, rolls threw stop signs and expects you no matter what your driving to stop or slow down for his sense of urgency.
This time however it Finally bit him in the ### and he is now responsible for causing someone’s death!

Those again that are defending this driver for making that U-turn I can’t make it any more clear than this. This type of driving behavior should never be condoned, but those defending it clearly show where this industry has gone it is gone from professional drivers to steering wheel holders… Many drivers that have come into the industry over the last several years have brought their idiotic habits that they have driving a car into this business and that in itself is causing problems… Maybe it’s time to thin the herd in this business

My wife just watched this video. Her response to me brought a big smile! How many of these idiots can we tolerate on the roadways! And how many drivers have You fired for doing the same exact thing even on clear days?

While sitting on the berm is a good time to open up your map, and see if there is a better solution.....

When you crash the A-pillar DIRECTLY against the frame rails of a trailer, even an airbag won't protect you. It might keep you from being fully decapitated, but that's about all. Her head smashed directly into the aluminum frame rail; death was probably instantaneous. Not a pretty sight to see...

She had "possession of her lane", the truck driver did not. The driver did something unexpected and EXTREMELY dangerous. Even the best attorney in the world might at best keep him from doing "hard" time, but that driver's career is now over, no exceptions. He left that accident scene in handcuffs, guaranteed. You can "what if" all you want, but this is probably the clearest case of a driver being 100% at fault that I've ever seen. Anybody who thinks otherwise is either willfully ignorant or delusional.

Guys, I'm not saying the driver didn't do anything wrong. But the 4-wheeler either wasn't paying attention or she was going way too fast. Look at the damage on her car for chrissake. Physics doesn't lie. Numbers don't lie. And I don't know why the guy in the video and some of you guys here are saying u-turns are ILLEGAL. They are not. If there is a sign that says "no u-turns allowed", then yes, they are illegal. Those who want to say that she had no fault are just being plain stubborn. Maybe it is out of sympathy because she died. But we must remain OBJECTIVE.

I am not saying "what if". Quite the opposite. I'm saying "what WAS". And what was, was that she hit the truck 5 or 6 seconds after he started his asinine maneuver. NUMBERS DON'T LIE.

Truck pulled out in front of her with a little to no warning… How on earth that woman in that car is responsible in regards to this accident is beyond me. This is what’s wrong with society blame the the victim and not the culprit…

And there you go with the snide remark, without knowing me or my history. I have never had an accident that was my fault since I've had my CDL. I was a Top 100 driver for Melton out of over 1300 drivers. I never said the truck driver didn't have any fault. He did. But the 4-wheeler caused her own demise. I'm trying to be objective here. If you can't get that through your fat skull, then that's on you. I'm done with you.

Going down the road nobody would ever expect a truck on shoulder to snap out a uturn right as you're approaching
