Hey, Magnum guys that recently trained, besides clothes & toiletries, what supplies do you reccomend bringing? Im talking tools, maps etc.
Is it likely my trainer will have GPS trucking navigation, or is it a good idea to bring one along? I'd appreciate any thoughts as you think of them, Ill be in Fargo very soon.

And how much do showers cost?
-
Your trainer can get a 'team' shower, so dont sweat it. Just be sure to scrub his back.... hahaha no seriously, you get 2 showers for one credit.
I wouldnt bring anything you dont want to sleep in your bunk with. There wont be alot of storage. You wont need tools. You can put them in your truck on your first hometime. A pair of gloves would be good. The GPS would fit in your bag, so I would bring it...but you probably wont need it till your solo. Learn to use that atlas!KTM1190, HaulinThruLife, runningman0661 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Especially with the new Peterbilt 579's it's important that you pack light. You really only need to bring 7 days of clothes, gloves for fuelling and dropping trailers and a smartphone. I bought a tablet, but found I used my phone most of the time.
Don't forget shower shoes and maybe a small backpack to carry your clothes in. Your trainer has tools and navigation covered. You will sleep with your stuff other than snacks in the fridge so less is more!HaulinThruLife, runningman0661, enicolasy and 1 other person Thank this. -
Thanks for the rundown.

Hey sorry guys, been running and I ended up turning on my satellite radio to late, used up all my data streaming!
Magnum is living up to their promise and they are keeping me running, in 9 days I'm around 3900 miles with plenty of more to come. For whatever reason I'm getting a lot of detention lately, but I guess it all adds up. Over the holiday weekend I ran to Denver and then back to Maryland - good miles. The kicker was the trip from Maryland to Chicago, 3 pallets with 3500 pounds! I wish I was on performance pay right now because I'm showing 8.3 MPG for the month!
I've been able to work with Dispatch to get some nice runs, as everyone says communicate and they will help not only keep you running, but get you headed to places that you are interested in visiting. Been able to see several friends while I'm out on the road. The trucks set up fairly nicely now, and I'm using the Peterbilt nav until I save a bit for a Garmin 770, it works OK, but I still need to look things up and keep my eyes open for restrictions - and then there's the matter of it crashing and needing to be rebooted.
In Coon Rapids doing a reset and having my APU looked at before I head out on Sunday for Dallas on a three stop trip. If anyone is going to be up here, let me know! -
I should be up to Coon Rapids tomorrow... I have a Campbell's soup load that I'm dropping in the yard. Then I have a Texas load out of Gaylord but not leaving till Monday morning...
Was thinking of hitting the Twins game on Sunday. I've done that before on a reset...
I'll look for ya!!runningman0661 Thanks this.
