Kennworth T660 2010--
The truck didn't start. Took forever to charge to die down.
So I put new batteries. Left all night running. It died down. (The alternator was changed last summer.) Canceled load yesterday. Booked for today in two hours. WTF? Is going on this year?
Temperature 1 degree this morning.
Have to run
A new year--bad beginning

Did you notice the system voltage when it was running? Could have been a crap alternator that didn't last long. A lot of re-man deals aren't anywhere near as good as an original one.
Sounds like a fun morning!77fib77 Thanks this. -
Check your grounds … the most common problem,
Beaver9 Thanks this. -
Here’s the other problem too with running on bad or low batteries...it will overwork and possibly cook the alternator. It’s only really designed to top them off after a cold start after running the starter motor. Trying to trickle charge 3 or 4 low batteries will ruin it.

Rechecked the wires. YEP. I missed one so it seems.
Yesterday was freezing. It got dark and I was too tired by then.
When you think you got it all, there it was.
I was about to call the road service. Saved a couple hundred $$$, man!
It seems I can pick up another load today.
It pays to be rested and well.
I will make sure all is good now. I will see how it runs for a bit before I make a run.Last edited: Jan 7, 2022

I did batteries in the subfreezing snow this morning too. Big fun.
