They put all those lights so that when they blow your doors off going by and you decide you are gonna run with the big boys, so you can see them far off in the distance still pulling away ...

I know this is a little off subject, but this is a story of how a bullhauler gets by the scale in the state of Ms. in the 80's. I hope I don't give any secrets but this had me lmao.

I got caught running the east bound scales at Vicksburg MS. on 20 and retuned to the west bound scales at gun point (another story). Ok, I am in the scale house and getting a sermon on no respect for the law and lo and behold here comes a cowhauler. I look out the window of the scale house and the driver has his sunglasses on at 2 am as he drives on the scale so I thought this might be my lucky night as the scalemaster is hollering STOP,STOP. The driver slams on the brakes and the scalehouse is like a earth quake had struck. I looked down and the scale read-out was between -0 and 100,000. Scale man tells him to back up and then STOP,STOP same results on the earth quake. I look out and the poor old girls were doing the MS. two step. Scale man tells him to pull the trailer on the scale and the same thing, STOP,STOP and with the same results and by this time the ol girls were doing the twist. LMAO this is my night. Next thing I hear is driver go ahead, as my jaw hits the floor, the scale man looks at me and says they do this to me all the time.

PS, You have to have a large set of balls to pull them cows.

My moms cousin hauled cattle into Colorado during the monfort lane days. He popped every pill imaginable and ran nonstop for days. About killed his heart.

You know what Pack, I bet he enjoyed every minute, every mile and
had a good time doing his job. Every mile was a white knuckle experience back then and you lived every day as if it was your last.

    Have a great day.

I keep an eye out for the bullwagons. Seems like theyre the only ones that know how to give proper road reports...down to the last tenth mile.

    Jake The Bullhauler Thanks this.
