I am not a driver, but had a previous driver with the same problem, took it to a dealer somewhere in the Midwest and it was fixed. Well a few months ago changed the batteries, and about a month later driver went on vacation.

Now my problem is I have a different driver (my wife's brother) and he doesn't know how to use it, and I told him to call the first guy before he left the country and of course he didn't, so now I have my Brother in law and my wife in my ear about this.

Now my local Cummins dealer doesn't know how to fix it, or why it wont work, but i sent him this link and I'll let you know what he is able to do.

They got instructions on the visor, at least i have on my volvo.
When i bought my truck i was so pissed cuz it would shut down after 5 min, couldnt keep truck idlin in hot weather, was gonna ask dealer to take it off, but then followed directions and it WORKED. I was so happy cuz it is a nice thing to have durin hot/cold weather.

So u dont even have to open/close hood, just set brakes, cruise on, orange light will start flashing and then u pull shifter forward, back or to left or right(no need to use clutch) w/o puttin in gear and after that the light will stay on and blink every couple secz. Then go to bunk and set the temp.

This is how it works on my 670 volvo, its a swift truck btw.

In parked position. with foot on brake release parking brake and put in gear then release parking brake and take out of gear take foot off brake then turn cruise control on put foot back on brake put in gear then take out of gear flashing icon light should stay on and not flash any more and rpms should go up if done right. go into sleeper area and set temps to what ever you want make sure you hit enter or will not save the settings

    work on my 07 cummins

Idk if your son has figured it out but all you have to do is let the truck idle then flip the cruise control from off to on once u do.this the blue light that says icon should blink fast once the light starts blinking fast shift the truck from neutral to any gear then back to neautral this should cause the blue icon light to blink slowly once the blue icon light starts to blink slowly go to the thermostat usually in the sleeper and set the temp. to whatever you want
