I am enrolling in NETTTS in Connecticut and I have heard there are new DOT physical requirements regarding weight and neck size. I am 46, 6'-1" tall and weigh around 340 (I have recently lost almost 70 pounds) I have a 21" neck and my blood pressure was 124/72 last week (I am on meds).
Before I go spending the money for the school I am wondering if I will be disqualified for a CDL before I even get one. I have an uncle in North Carolina who has been driving for 35+ years and he said they are getting stricter for DOT cards. His son-in-law is 50 pounds overweight and is petrified he will lose his CDL. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

There are no new regulations yet. You have to remember that the DOY requirements are just a minimum, companies can add requirements as they see fit.

when you go for the required DOT physical for the school you may be given a sleep apnea questionnaire. but as it stands now a man with a neck size bigger than 17" is going to be suspected of sleep apnea. your BMI (body mass index) MUST be with in limits, or you will be suspected of sleep apnea.

you had darned well BETTER lose the weight......because once those rules come into place, you will be out several thousands of dollars for the testing out of your pocket........every trucking job you go to, will put you through a physical........you will NOT escape this.

no medical card, means NO JOB.......
