Im considering a change in my career and driving for Swift to start out with. I live in Boise Idaho which means the closest terminal to me is in West Valley, Utah. That is about 5 hours from me. What is their policy with bringing trucks home? Im hoping that a Boise based Swift driver sees my question.

    Thanks in advance!

Utah might be their closest “terminal” but they have a yard by the old outlet stores just before Winco. 5 years ago anyways you could take an empty home always, and loaded with permission depending on contents.

Assigned trucks go home with the driver. Unless, Knight has changed that.

Why not look for an Idaho-based company like Giltner? Leonard's Express has a terminal in Jerome I believe. That would be better than driving to Utah or even Lewiston.

Counterpoint: Leonard's Express is basically a "one-trick pony" (i.e., reefer).... whereas Swift is not (reefer, dry van, flatbed, heavy haul, intermodal).

Thus: a new driver in Swift's fleet can get exposure/experience with different types of freight -- & without changing employers. Also: if a driver decides reefer freight is not their "cup of tea" -- Swift offers other options -- & again, without the need to jump ship.

since last time i was there, terminal has no fences around the property.
    makes me wonder about security
