It is a owner operator from FedEx National Ltl. I don't want to say their company name and will only mention it if the owner of the truck sticks it up my butt. I still have a chance to negotiate a deal with the owner.

now my friend a lot of company drivers have run into the same thing , the company trying to make the driver replace there equipment at the drivers expense it's common practice with company's the do it all the time and they get away with it why? because most drivers won't stand there ground and do somthing about it .

as far as what to do, if the state police wrote a reoport he should have gave you a copy if he did be sure and keep it .

the next chicken house you come to pull in an ask for an inspection and tell the DOT what happened, and when you do tell them your afraid your going to get fired because of the inspection that way they will keep you name off the inspection.
make sure all your pretrips are in order and make sure the broken chains are listed on you pretrip that will cover you legaly.

now chances are in wyoming they will put you out of service there pretty serious about chains but the company will have to buy chainns before you move they wont have much choice in the matter.

as far as your paycheck legaly they can not hold any of your money to replace any of there equipment period, BUT you may have to get an attorney to collect it cant tell you about that art don't no who you work for or where your at in fl i could but that a long way from wyoming.

a word to the wise, get another job, there not worth working for and there nothing but troubel.

hope this has helped you. best of luck. southernpride

    FedEX Leased O/O...
I hope the rest of you are paying close attention....

    I wouldn't lease with FedEx....period........

I have enough problems during the winter when they and their single prop company rigs make a mess of the road....

Trucks are suppose to have extra chains in the NW and if one chain was broke were all the chains broke? could any one of them have been used to break free, and as Patriot said this should have been address from your PTI and maintenance block on you daily log as a track record you could use in a court of law.

And while we're on this subject every trucker should invest in a heavy duty tow chain for just such events, I used one to have another driver pull me out of the truckstop after two feet of snow.

At company level I got stuck in the mud, on two separate occasions, no three: ( this is embarrassing) with three separate outfits; but fortunately I was with some outfits that footed the bill.

And you really want to hear something funny, my trainer got stuck in the snow at the shipper after the drives slid back into a whole at the shipper, now you know where I get it from lol!!!

Sounds like you listened and paid attention to your trainer.:yes2557: :biggrin_25511:
I would never use a chain. Get a good strap they are a lot safer and do less damage, plus a good one will be lighter and take up less space. JMHO.

If your a company driver, and you were dispatched to drive the truck, then the company is responsible for just about everything. And not to mention, they can't legally deduct anything out of your check without your knowledge or you permission.

Yes mine is rated for 90K , most times you would be surprised at how little it takes to get something unstuck, unless buried up to the frame rails in the mud it will take far less to get moving.
