High beams should be a "no no" in any instance. Day or night.. unless there is absolutely no one in front of you.. People can see the low beams as well as the high.. Even in the daytime, they are bright in others eyes...

Sure, the day time brights aren't as much of a blinder. But a blinder still the same..

Common courtesy has gone out the window in the last few years.. It's more courtious to do nothing, than to hit folks with your brights.

The bad thing is most of the time when you pass another truck you cant get anything whether they have been driving 20 minutes or 20 yrs.Dont really know what the deal is anymore not much common courtesy these days from anyone not even driver to driver.

True. You can be sued for anything. Them winning is another story. I wonder if there are any cases of this actually happening?

Either way, I can understand the caution, But our we really liable?

I was in VA one night, on a divided highway, the oncoming SUV has it's brights on. And they were extremely bright.. So I flicked my highbeams at him once. He didn't dim his. So I flicked mine twice. He still didn't dim them. So I turned on my brights and left them on.

And of course, it was a cop, who then pulled me over for flicking my bright lights at him. He said:
"In the commonwealth of Virginia, it's against the law to flick your lights at the oncoming traffic."He said because it's warning others of a police trap behind you"

I told him "In the Republic of Texas, we don't blind the oncoming traffic, because it's just common courtesy"

After a little dispute with the cop about how rude and unsafe it is to blind the oncoming traffic, and that how i felt he was just doing it to have a reason to pull me over, he said that he'd write it all up for me, and the judge could explain it to me in court....

So I told him "Good" and that I didn't want a warning.

He looked confused as to my request and asked why...

I told him that I can't fight a stupid warning in court. But I'd be more than happy to see you in front of the judge for his explaination on a stupid ticket... You might get lucky, and the judge doesn't mind being bright lighted"

He ran my license and told me to have a nice night... No warning, no ticket.... Nothing.
