Um, the only time I rarely flash my brights at someone is for coming at me with the highbeams on or when someone who passes me is clearly one of those types that's stuck in the '70's and expects to be flashed over each and every time they pass a slower truck.

As most would say, that's when its only applicable. But then again, you get these monkeys that want that flash no matter the situation and If you get the opportunity to talk to them about it, most of them like to use the phrase, "lack of common courtesy" to back up their argument. As far as I'm concerned, there's a big difference between courtesy and requirement.
    Even during the day??

Well, I guess I'm failing to understand what you mean about "by your leave" to the trucker.

Are you perhaps being one of those types I've been talking about and telling the trucker that he/she is being inconsiderate? Please explain.
I thought you ran for swift but that has what, again, to do with this conversation?

I don't think passing trucks have a hard time seeing the blinking lowbeams during the day but my philosophy is, during a bright, sunny day, you shouldn't be blinded by a vehicle's highbeams and If you are, you either got some serious problems, or not all your dogs are barking. Number two, because of that mentioned above, its easier to reach for the dimmer switch rather than on the middle of the dash or down by your knee for the headlight switch and during the day for most people, you don't have to feel guilty for using the highbeams to flash someone over during the day.

My running for Swift is part of the conversation because you were saying I don't know what it's like to be passed all the time. I was demonstrating that I do.

"By your leave" is kind of a calm, friendly way of saying "excuse me."

I'm done explaining myself to you. You take that flash any way you want to. I was only trying to point out it's not always meant in a negative way. If I'm calling you an arsehat with my lights, it will be a single flash of my left turn signal. Other than that, it's all good intention. Read it however you like. Because I couldn't care less you're looking for an excuse to get p/oed.

I hate to ask this, but when in this thread did I ever say you didn't know what it was like to have a slow truck and gets passed all the time, hmmm? I was merely pointing out that because I, myself, drive a slow truck, I pretty much know it when I'm being passed by someone who takes that flash back over nonsense way, too seriously.

If I'm understanding you correctly which is a long shot most likely at this point, we're not in a packed nightclub on a Saturday night, trying to wade through the crowd to get to the bar or the restroom, Injun. We're just cruising down the freeway with plenty of room, especially at night. You don't have to say, "excuse me" with your tail lights as you pass but you do what you want to do but I'll tell ya right now, if you perform your "excuse me" flash like it looks like you do, I have no choice but to assume your doing the same thing. Most of the time, I ignore it. It's only when its so blatantly obvious that I get pissy about it and If that bothers you, well, I apologize, I guess.

I will. As I said, It's not difficult to figure it out. The way I see it, the only time you should be flashing your tails or four-ways at anyone is to say thanks when the truck you're passing gives you the "come back over" flash. If you don't get the flash, oh well, get over it. Go on with your life and keep your paws off the marker interrupt switch/button because it really don't change anything and most likely, it ain't gonna make people like me change. I do not flash every driver over that passes me, PERIOD.
I realize that, that's why most of the time, I ignore it and go about my business. It doesn't make sense, but maybe they are just saying thanks anyways because they didn't see me flash them over and they are just making sure that thanks is being said.
I don't get broken up about that left blink because not that many people know of its true meaning so it ain't worth the time to get all bent outta shape when you see it. At least I don't.
Not expecting you to care about anything. But again, I don't look for reasons to be pissy.

So the bottom line is, day or night, it's impolite to bright light a passing truck. If you do it, then your a jerk. Period. End of story.

I still flash my brights during the day so if that makes me a jerk in your mind, so be it. I've been called worse.

Besides, I get a lot of thanks flashes when I use my highbeams during the day so I have a hard time believing I'm doing anything wrong.

Nothing wrong with flashing in the day time. In fact I think it's better.

    Not end of story.

LOL, have you noticed how many drivers go down the road with one of the fog lights burned out or out of adjustment? Show's you how much they don't "pre-trip"... Not to mention, how many drivers think that their headlights aren't adjustable?

But bright lights during the day or night, is bothersome.. Because you know, when your passed the truck, and that's when you look. And that's when you get blinded.. It never fails.

A bright light, day or night, is still bright.

    Lol.....

Highbeams are ok but fog lights blind you?........ How funny.

You do know that OEM "fog" lights are of the same wattage as the low beams, don't you?
