Turn the trucks down is the first step....
Once they do that the politicians will start in with all kind of regulations
about Big Trucks in the Left Lane being a problem.
Once they get those 2 things done they will start back belly aching about about too
many trucks on the road holding up traffic and try to make the Big Rigs on run at night.
Theie is no stopping the Gub
Footnote: I am running from Texas to the east coast ...my truck does 68
I don't think I've gone much above 64 the whole way ( sometime even slower)
So personally , i don't care what they do. Im in no hurry

The Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Assn. (OOIDA), however, opposes such a rule, contending there is “a lack of solid science” to back up such a mandate, and that speed-limited trucks “would make highways less safe.”
There's a lack of solid science for most everything the government does. -
Time to go shopping for a pre-1991 truck!!!
As of now, the rule applies only to trucks manufactured from 1991 to present day. When or if this law passes, just buy a pre-1991 truck and you'll still be able to hammer down...until they revise that provision. -
FFS at this rate the only people with basic freedoms will be driving 80s cabovers lol
Derailed Thanks this. -
Wasn't she the only politician that stood up for truck drivers and spoke out AGAINST the 1 to 5 am rule on the 34 hour reset???jason6541 Thanks this.

Yes , the ata wanted that rule gone . Just like they want e-logs and speed limiters.
See a pattern....? -
Those studies have already been done by all the states who used to have split speed limits for trucks and small vehicles and done away with them. And in almost all of those states, certain types of accidents decreased. Exactly as the opponents of split speeds said they would. We all know the federal govt doesn't ever repeal anything anymore. If something has unintended consequences or doesn't work, they never say "ooops" and change it back. They just make up some silly reason it didn't work, and use that as an excuse to change something else. So when this governed truck thing proves to be a disaster, what's the next thing they'll do to "fix" the disaster? I'm really afraid of the answer to that question.gokiddogo Thanks this.

After they pass this crap, we need to post big signs across the back of our trucks that read something to the effect of, "call your Congressman if you don't like my slow truck. They want it this way". And then turtle race on purpose. Just to get people calling thier elected officials. May not help, but sure couldn't hurt.

Nah, as a dig at the powers that be, everyone mount one of those slow moving vehicle triangles on the back like farm tractors and such have. That would really make a statement about the speed limiters better than anything I can think of.

Can we all, those who oppose this rule at least post our opinion on the FMCSA regulations page when that is open for public discussion? And if we all called our senators and told them we don't want this and why, and they were "inundated" with opinions against this rule, wouldn't that make them change their minds? Just asking...
