Lol....
Yeah, I found most of the cops there to be pretty understanding as well. Hoping they dont send me to NYC too much once I'm on the road but if they do I'll deal. I remember driving the Cross Bronx Xpwy in the mornings with the rigs and it was pretty hairy, if felt like we were holding hands with the trucks to our left and right.

There are a few that do talk a lot of crap and don't let up about being a Swift driver. Most of them however would give me some crap until I would answer back on the radio, and just explain I'm out there doign the same thing they are trying to put some food on the table back home. By far most of the guys out there are good guys. But when they aren't just let it go. As far as directions and / or any of the other dozens of issues and problems you will come across, you just have to roll with it all. Other wise you get to a pissed off individual and that does absolutely no good for anyone especially yourself.
It has been several years since I drove with them but I don't think Swift OTR drivers ever go into NYC. that is what I was told anyways. That may or may not have changed. I went into NY state a few times, but never into the city, just close enough to see downtown and the Statue of Liberty lit up at night which was pretty cool.
DocWatson Thanks this. -
I think the real problem was that he was under a K-Mart load, and the scare of getting a SF if late, caused him not to think, but instead made him rush his actions. What a messed up day for this guy, cause I am sure he SF'ed anyway over having missed his appt to unld.

Training probably had nothing to do with it. I'm a trainer at my current company(not driver trainer). I get it everyday. People will do what they are supposed to, how they are supposed to while being watched. Once on their own, they do it however they please. It boggles my mind how a person has no experience but are gonna decide how the equipment will be run. And then stand there looking stupid when it fails and we are shutdown.
Drivers are the same way. They will do things properly while in training then once signed off, "blaze their own trail" -

This Swift driver made a wrong turn into a parking lot trying to "turn around".

I am sooo thinking the same thing. What would be a good option?
After watching that video, I know I will never turn around in a small parking lot like that. I'll wait til I roll up
on a WalMart or Target or Grocery store or something. Just a month ago, I watched a friend of mine turn around in the middle of a highway...Just did a smooth U-Turn because he was going the wrong way. It shocked the #### outta me. He was so smooth with it....and he was pulling a trailer...and he did it with a cigarette in his mouth and arm out of the window. I just remember thinking "####, I wanna be like that" (minus the cigarette) -
Oh they go into NYC. My friend was there last month and sent me pictures from his cell phone. He hates it up there though....I mean really hates it!
