I will be graduating with my CDL in 4 more weeks! total school time 11 weeks. I hope I am lucky enough to find a good company trainer with lots of patience! My wife says the trainer will need it! LOL. I guess I could just pay the trainer .10 a mile extra so he or she will be able to buy some Valium. HEY! I allready speak english that has to be a + anyway.

You guys are too funny! My husband is currently training with Roehl. He thought his first trainer took the cake, but found out later that because he didn't take the time to really help him with the computer navigation system he had to be out longer. His second trainer stressed him out so much my husband said "He just wouldn't shut up so I could concentrate! I felt like pulling the yellow button and saying 'You !##&#*" drive then!'". It was a bad deal all around. Funny thing is I used to be a driving instructor for the four wheelers and I would try and tell him about a hard student and he didn't get it. I think he understands how much patience and how hard it is to be a good trainer. Funny thing is I was on my way to pick him up from the yard after his second training stint and he gave me a call from the passenger seat. "Hey babe, we'll be there the same time as you!" I was like how do you know? He said they were right behind me at the stop light. This whole time I had been looking for big red trucks and I thought to my self there was no way I missed a bright red semi truck behind me at the lights... I know it was blue. Then he proceeds to tell me that i better get in the right hand lane because the exit for the yard is coming up! I was like "Honey, I'm not driving with 18 wheels under me.. the exit is in five miles I have plenty of time to move over" He said, " I was just letting you know.." So he was telling me how to drive and he wasn't even in the same truck as me! I think he's going to go on to be a trainer :biggrin_2559:. Oh and he was in the blue truck!

We had a guy he was my student co driver at orientation, We were out on a evaluation when the trainer noticed the student had put his bottle of water at the base of the seat on the floor. When the trainer said "I see something unsafe and pointed to the bottle the trainee didn't think twice about just bending down below the dash level to the floor to grab the bottle! The problem was we were going 45 on a city street in traffic when he did this!. I couldn't believe the words that came out of that trainers mouth as she started to grab for the brake buttons!

Tomorrow is the big day! I have to drive to Gary and meet up with my training engineer to begin my 7-14 days of on the road training!. I hope he is knowledgeable and is a patient man. I drive safely but I suck on paperwork!. I wonder if I should bring a envelope of cash to buy some extra training time with trip planing.

Trainers who are in it strictly for the money are a sorry bunch to be hooked up with. I promise anyone who gets stuck with one of these guys will learn nothing useful except what its like to be an ATM.

Also trainers who can't keep a civil tongue in their mouths need to be excused from the training field. The last thing a trainee needs is some loud mouth hurling insults at them when they are trying to learn. It's stressful enough without the venomous diatribe.

MMM getting a "WACKO" for a trainer????????? As a trainer myself I don't consider myself as a "wacko" I HAVE had a few "WACKO STUDENTS" Be carfull out there. Please don't go into the training faze of your new career with that attitude. I personaly can tell what a new driver is going to be like and do withing the first day and if they have this attitude that they do or don't want to learn from sombody that has beeen down the road a few more miles then they have. Good luck in your new career and remember to be safe.

""There are 2 types, 1. For the money. He throws you the keys and says "goodnight, wake me up when your hours are up." Or 2. someone who likes to turn newbies into truck drivers.""

I am person who needs to learn how to drive a truck. I dont really love the people to people contact i like "being my own boss" in the sense. I was a truck driver for the army but unfortuantly was hurt before my truck driver training began. three years later i am back. i know its a hard job i know i was be away from home and driving long hrs and all type of weather and also in stressful traffic conditions with 4 wheelers who dont know wht the #### is going on. i know i will be hungry tired cold hot w.e. but i still want this job "life style" it is what my wife and i have decided together. i am not afraid of being away from home.

Now what i am getting at is i would love to have a real trainer trainer NUMBER 2 THE ONE WHO DOES WANT TO TRAIN ME. SO I AM ASKING IF ANYONE WORKS FOR SWIFT AND MIGHT BE WILLING TO TRAIN ME PLEASE IF YOU LIKE SEND ME OR INFO AND I WILL REQUEST YOU AS A TRAINER. THANK YOU GOD BLESS DRIVE SAFE.
