Not true. I mentioned they are too short for a Cascadia. 7 feet is a minimum length needed for the Cascadia due to the low mounting location.

2 ant will be to close together..I am or was running the 2019 procomm mount and a 7ft skip shooter with some flexable water pipe of equal diameter as ant..About 2-4' long to slow most of the sway..

Any antenna that like the wilson 2000 or one of the big coil ant will work but are a mid load antenna...Now they will not work as well as a 7ft skip shooter/firestick cause their load coil is at the tip which is called top loaded...Alot less signal reflect which allows for better tuning and range..

So rabbi and Craig, what kind of performance (clarity and range) do you think a guy could get with two 7' Skipshooters, this coax, a Cobra 29 LX, and nothing else?

I've read though all of Slowmover's posts and all the fiddling he and other do with filters, bonding whatevers, ... All stuff I don't understand and don't have a lot of patience to learn. I'd like to be able to reach out 5 miles or so ahead of me and behind me. That's about it. Don't care to talk to someone 20 miles away as I don't see the point from the perspective of practicality/the needs of a truck driver. (If I were trying to make this a hobby and have a base station, that'd be different. But I'm a truck driver that just needs to relay information with those around me.)

Edit: Do I need two antennas? I'm assuming 2 is better than 1.

No...keep it simple and use one...
50 ohm coax...75 ohm is for two ant...Stick with one...
All the filtering is noise supression from electronics such as inverters, cell chargers and gps power...
If your radio is untouched,no peak n tune bs and you add 2 braided ground straps on drivers door, think i mentioned it in this thread and run 1 50 ohm coax and one talk firestock or skip shooter you should be ok for more than 5 mi..
If you dont care other than that your also not gonna do well with a base station either...Same ideals are involved just done differently...If thats all your after is 5 or so mi then what ever happens noise wise in rev or tx you will have to put up with...
It will get somewhat addictive and you will want more down the road..So take the time and learn..

Sorry. Can you shoot me a picture of a braided ground strap? I don't know what that is.

And to clarify, I referred to a base station to illustrate my point, not to imply that I wanted one.

2 can be better but it's more work and money to get it right. If all you want is 5 miles, a single fiberglass whip should suffice.

Ah, ok. Yes, I've seen these before somewhere. I don't recall where or why, though not CB related.

And where exactly do I need to hook these to?

    Thanks!
