This is an old thread but, Big Don, I would like to know how's it going with your c-pap and eye problem, and where do you get the "night goggles"? I have the same issues.

    Big Don Thanks this.

I use my CPAP every night. I am quite anal about keeping the mask cushion clean and free from body oils, and washing my face every night before bed. Even with that, there is still a certain amount of air leakage.
I gave up on the night goggles for two reasons. First was because they didn't help, and second because I just could not get them to fit comfortably.
I'm still having the eye problems, even after the botox injections and then surgery. I believe that I had some initial relief after surgery, but it never went away completely.
I've had a whole lot load of cardiac problems that have helped take my mind off my eyes. For the most part, I've just learned to live with the eye problems. But there are days that they are much worse than other days, usually brought on by extra stress.
Most days I'm good to do pretty much what I want. But on bad days, I don't drive or use any kind of power tools.
From personal experience, I can't recommend either the botox treatments, or the eye surgery. I do recommend the full cover wraparound sunglasses that can be worn over your regular glasses. They are available at any optometrists' office. I save money by buying them from Walmart optometrist rather than the private doc who does my eye exams. They help tremendously here in our bright desert sun.

Sorry, I didn't answer your question on where to buy the night goggles. I got mine from an ophthalmologist.

    rachi Thanks this.

I just went back through the thread, and realized there is a lot of missing information here. I apologize for that, and I'll try to catch it all up here.
At some point after making post #8, I saw another opthalmologist and was diagnosed with posterior blepharitis.Individuals with blepharitis may experience a gritty or burning sensation in their eyes, excessive tearing, itching, red and swollen eyelids, dry eyes, or crusting of the eyelids. For some people, blepharitis causes only minor irritation and itching. However, it can lead to more severe signs and symptoms such as blurring of vision, missing or misdirected eyelashes, and inflammation of other eye tissue, particularly the cornea.
Two options were recommended for relief, botox injections or eyelid surgery. First I took the Botox injections, which were no help at all. So then I went for the eyelid surgery, which only helped for a short while? Both procedures are very expensive...
Hope this post clears things up a bit.

Thanks big Don for the info. I had those little inserts put into the lower "drain" tear duct a year ago but that didn't help. Eye drops don't work either cause they just gum up my eyes. The only relief I have is keeping a small spray bottle with water and squirt it in my eyes. It's always worse as the day goes by. I have had this condition since 2007 at about the time I started on the c-pap. Hope it don't get worse. Hope everything works out for you with your other health problems.

    Big Don Thanks this.

Maybe the cure is worse than the illness. At 58 years old I sometimes have trouble sleeping if I have to run A/C, but if if I am somewhere that is nice and cool and can leave the winders open I sleep like a baby and awaken refreshed and ready to go.

rachi and Big Don Thank this.

Well, in some cases, I am betting you are right. I'm sure there are a lot of CPAPs prescribed for folks that just don't need them.
However, I was in such bad shape, that I'd be long gone by now, without mine.

    rachi and 6daysontheroad Thank this.
