Hello and welcome to the Trucker's Report. I'm a friend of Bill's too.

Even now with just almost 30 years sober, (September will be my 30 year mark) I make sure to know where an AA meeting is being held just in case I need one.

It's actually very easy to find a meeting. Use this link http://www.aa.org/lang/en/meeting_finder.cfm?origpage=29 and enter either the zip code or city and state where you're at or will be at.

Congrats on your sobriety and I hope and pray for your continued success.

If I can ever be of help please don't hesitate to contact me. I realize that you can't pm people yet other than the moderators so should you need a bit of encouragement or help....please ask a mod to contact me for you or forward a pm from you.

:biggrin_25514::smt023WOW!!!!! 30 years in a ROW which is hard to find. I need to see the NEW people, ALL People, in the program but for me I NEED to see the people that keep on trucking one day at a time that tell me it is OK to keep on going one day at a time. Take Care and God Bless. Will do what you suggested. Some GREAT people have responded to this thread.

What I did early in my sobriety was find an AA hotline in whatever town I was in. I called and was picked up at the truckstop and brought back. Being in sobriety and traveling has not been a problem for me. If you have a Blackberry/Laptop and internet connection you are good to go.

Friend of Bills here as well. At one of the area assemblies I was at they had books with all the AA groups meeting times and contact info in them. I have one for canada, I imagine that they have them for the states as well. Perhaps that is something that you may find handy. That site that Texas-Nana posted is very good as well. One thing I do when in a new town looking for a meeting is call the contact info, sometimes the meetings change times or location and you may end up at the wrong place. I have a few times.

Good luck, god bless and keep it simple.

Yup, I'm a friend of Bill n Dr. Bob. Not quite so many 24's under my belt, it'll be a 18 months July 29th after 22 years of bouncing in and out.

    Here's what I found:
Your local central office should have a couple books that outline where the other central offices are around the country. I also found that as dad to 5 kids and husband to a wife who loves me and puts up with my crap, that, being out 14 days and home for 2 doesn't work for me. Which is why I book loads and dispatch and only let myself be a relief or emergency driver. I also found that there's no shame or embarrassment in getting on the radio and giving a shout for other friends of Bill W. My success ratio wasn't so hot though. I also found myself in the precocious position of going outside the principals in using a mass-media forum to discuss a better way of life. In the same note I was able to share a few cups of coffee and do a little carrying of the message. It's 50/50 from my own experience.

I mull the idea around of local driving around and have even applied for one of those golden local jobs. It's down to me and another driver who will get the job at the time of this posting. Life on life's terms.

A final tip: BE CAREFUL IF LOOKING FOR MEETINGS ONLINE! I picked up a wicked Antiviruspro2010 virus that decimated my laptop while looking for a meeting online when I was laid over in lovely West Memphis for a weekend. So heads up on that one !!
