Doesn't work like that. Never has. Hence the 'adult' discussion.
Next, someone will chime in and talk about how the goobermint should step in a do something about the people that got themselves stranded far away from home. Brilliant idea! Trainee gets stranded 500 miles from the house and calls the goobermint hotline. Goobermint has an arbitrator set up to work things out between the company and the trainee to see who should pay for the ride home. Should only take 3-4 weeks.
It's so much simpler to CYA yourself. After all, unless you're into buttsex, no one knows your arse like you do.
Too funny.

Remember this thread, rookies and wannabes.
Drivers should have a twofold agenda. Write this down:
1.) Get paid
2.) Get home safely
You have 2 kinds of drivers out here. The one in control. The one out of control. The very first step to being in control is to be RESPONSIBILE for yourself. Doesn't matter who owns the truck. Doesn't matter whose name is on the truck. If you are not responsible, you are not in control. You're braindead.
"But Six, if you're in a trainer's truck, how can you be in control?"
What's the driver's agenda? Get Paid, Get Home. What do you have to do to get paid? Ride in a trainer's truck and learn the job. If something goes south, who's agenda is it to get you home safely? I think of all the Arrow drivers that got stranded in 2009 when Arrow went under. Right before Christmas. Your company suddenly closes it's doors and you cant get home? Whose agenda is it to get you home?
Blizzard of 93 hit the southeastern US heavy. I was on my way home. Whose responsibility is it to get me home safely? You guys that worry about driving when you dont deem it safe...whose responsibility is it for you to get home safely?
Take control if you haven't already.Highway Sailor, BigBob410, dwells40 and 8 others Thank this. -
Excellent post. This should be mandatory reading for all trainee’s and drivers.

Totally aware of how it works sir. Just stating my opinion like you all are. I'm not one to judge people, and I'm not disagreeing with any of you. You should cover your rear end, those are probably the most important words you'll bear be trucking. I only saw trainee abandoned and that's only going to make me think that the trainer and company deliberately hung him out to dry, at least that's what I thought abandoned meant. If you can't abandon a truck, why is it ok to abandon a trainee? Keep in mind, I'm still speculating because we don't know why the trainee was left at the truck stopx1Heavy Thanks this.

Ha I was thinking the exact same thing when I read that postline Thanks this.

If he committed a crime, call law enforcement... he could be sleeping in jail. Otherwise, the company should be seeing to his return home.MBAngel and bryan21384 Thank this.

Because we are adults that have heard the phrase "Personal responsibility" and actually try to have some.
Although I will disagree with Six on a minor point, I would say about $200 would be enough to carry around.
That coupled with most ATM's allow $200 a day to be withdrawn gives one $400 immediately.
The $200 gives one means to get to the bus station (cab, uber, whatever) and then what's leftover plus the $200 will get a bus ticket to anywhere from anywhere in America.Feedman and gentleroger Thank this. -
