If you are aware of how it works, then you already have the answer for all your questions.
-
I was referring to drivers' not trainees. Full gear, etc. $1000 will get you a rental plus fuel plus motel plus whatever.ZVar and gentleroger Thank this.

Why is it the company's problem?
He's an adult isn't he?
Look guys, this crap has been going on for decades, nothing has changed but as we see when there are times where the media and megas are making HUGE claims of driver shortages, we see desperate people get into this without a dime to their name and then get pissed off when something isn't what they expect - EVEN AFTER THEY WERE TOLD THE TRUTH.
I wasn't there, so I can't judge his situation but I do know that there are more desperate drivers out there than most realize and they are part of the revolving door and abuse of the industry we have been seeing for decades.Dave_in_AZ, x1Heavy and Coover Thank this. -
Am I reading this wrong? Are you saying you have never had $1,000 cash before, or never carried it with you on truck?
While it is sad, but true most Americans don't have a savings of $1,000 or more, a thousand dollars isn't really much. The same people that complain about being broke, can't afford to save $$$$ are usually the ones blowing it left and right.
Eating out, fast food multiple times a day, fancy $5+ coffee, the latest I-phoneX with enhanced $200/ bill, every streaming service known to man with all the gaming consoles etc.
I guess I'm just old fashioned, but I pump 10% into my 401k take advantage of employer 100%to 6% match, and still manage to save a thousand a month cash. While making a mortgage &car payment. It's all about priorities.Highway Sailor, dwells40, Arkansas and 5 others Thank this. -
Yes it is. Priorities. My wife & I worked our butts off 40 yrs and saved what we could. No new cars or any other crap American society thinks is important.

kind of pointless to discuss, I guess, not knowing what all happened. But, I can't imagine too many circumstances where the company would have no obligation to help this guy get home. He's their employee for ****'* sake!
