You should also get the signature of the person who takes the keys for the truck as proof that it was returned and pictures of the truck with that person in the frame. You need to take pictures of the truck as proof of the shape it was in. I have heard of instances where someone else got the truck and then they billed the previous driver for all kinds of damages. Hard to prove if you don't have pics and proof.

It is a lonely, hard lifestyle. Some days are better than others. Traffic is a pain, esp in bigger cities, roads are a joke with holes big enough to swallow a truck in some areas. You have to be happy with your own company most of the time and sleep odd hours.

Good luck, if you do give it up.

If you have a laptop this is one thing you might look at as far as finding parking, it is a website I use quite a bit for sometimes finding those out of the wall places for hubby to park:

    www.findfuelstops.com

Make sure you get a login info to use it more effectively. Put in city and state for beginning city and ending city, click on a fuel stop and pull up in a separate window and it will tell you of other places possibly in the same area such as rest areas. Not all fuel stops are ones you can park at though. Any Walmart listed needs to be called first to verify that you can park there overnight, some will not let you. Also use the map listed or maps.google.com to zoom into area and look around, some of the Walmarts have too many island and trees to park in and get out of safely. Also use google to map the trip, look at shippers and receivers, hunt out addresses, and look for parking in the area perhaps. Google time and truck time are not the same, etc. And if you find a spot that has parking or allows it, write it down in a book, on the computer in a spreadsheet, whatever, it helps to have stuff on hand.

I doubt if they would pay for parking at Travel centers of America, but if you are desperate for a place, it sometimes is an option. 855-847-7275 is the number to book over the phone.

    sorry about your luck.

it had employee history. my complete trucking career for 15 years. so that blows your 7 years.
it had TWO inquiries. one by the mill school when i first started. 15 years ago. the other was last year by a mega i applied at.
15 pages of it, were USIS themselves making notations about trying to get a hold of ONE employee for verification. THAT pertained to the last mega.

you don't have my dac, i do. so don't try to tell me what you think is on there.

Be a man, & do not quit leaving the truck at a truck stop. Be honest, tell them you want to quit, tell them to get you to a terminal & or to the home terminal.

Back when I was driving cross county I got aggravated a few time, & if I had been at home I would have quit, but I was not going to leave the truck parked somewhere & hitchhike home.

I just could not do my boss man that way no matter how much he aggravated me. Amd I don't believe any good trucker, good person would!

Hold on a minute driver ,you are not in the right frame of mind right now ....yes we've all been there ,never react on emotions that can get you into trouble .....if you want get out and take a breather from trucking ,do the right thing tell them you will deliver this last load but that you've had enough of short miles and little pay checks ( the company makes more $ on the shorter runs ) ....but they don't want you know about it ....werner is not a good place to work btw
So think before you jump ....call them be a straight shooter ,leave on higher ground by doing the right thing ,be honest with them and ask them if it's true they make more $ on short runs ,they will understand why you are quiting
.....get a driving job in the clock never by the mile or by the load ,don't be discouraged you are just learning this career

Hi super, good points, we have all been there, I believe it's because we have too much time to think about that stuff. And the squeaky wheel get's the grease, 10-4.

"kept dying after shutting it off" What the heck does that mean? I think you may be a bit immature to be on a public highway with such a large vehicle. Take the truck back, quit, and go back to school. You need some basic spelling and grammar, among other things.

Hi patty, yeah, that sounded a little harsh to me too, wonder if they were kidding. "Leave the truck under a bridge", that's terrible advice. I would never underestimate what a company would do in that situation, and when that would come back to bite ya.
BTW, are you still in your uniform? Oh, for crying out loud!:biggrin_2559:
