Truck Driving School – ABC Training and Testing

What do you guys think about this school? Haven't been able to find much about them from Google but it's where Mich Works wants to send me for my WIOA grant. 160 hours and through a partnership with the community college so I guess it'll be OK?

I'd go for it. WIOA and Mich Works won't waste money by sending people to low quality schools.
160 hour school; plenty of good job opportunities will be available.

Well, it looks like I will be starting with them on September 10. My worker said she just needed the class dates for the final paperwork. All said, the WIOA process has been pretty quick and easy.

I'm going to try staying local or regional, hopefully tanker, for now. My youngest is 16 so in a few years I'll probably switch to otr, maybe even convince my wife to join me and team. That's the loose plan anyhow. And big thanks to you Chinatown for suggesting the WIOA.

    Chinatown Thanks this.

NTB Trucking - has regional jobs and a few local jobs. Probably make good paychecks there. You can contact them now and ask if they hire from ABC and they probably do.

Predator Trucking - they prefer a few mos. experience, but many times will waive that for a mature driver with a good work history.

CR England - has a horrible reputation with OTR drivers, but don't know about local work. They do have accounts that are "local-home daily" and driving day cab trucks for a dedicated customer.

They say timing is everything, I guess mine sucks, lol. My wioa caseworker has informed me that I will have to attend my schooling starting in early October, due to processing times (their end) I missed the September start. That should put me finding a job and starting to actually drive in mid-November. Sounds like a great time for a rookie driver in Michigan to hit the road.
