Well I started of my week last night at 1800. I drive for ABF out of Kingman Az. Been here almost 9 years.
Anyways I did a Kingman to San Bernardino via Anaheim. Only 357 miles. Got 3/4 hours clock time. Finished up at 0230. Sitting here at the hotel in Fontana waiting on my work call to go home.
I'm on what they call a Basin Bid. Meaning I run a lay down bid, and my bid always has me laying down in either San Diego, Pico Riviera, Fontana or Bakersfield. My runs usually have 2 or 3 vias. I have Sundays off and leave out Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Every other week I can drop a trip, usually I drop my Friday trip and take Friday, Saturday and Sunday off. -
Well what kind is it???
Boy Howdy is ABF paying into the pension plan still? I know YRC stopped which was a main reason I left. . I know you guys took a pay cut like. -
That is what I was thinking courtesy of the Master National Freight Contract.
-
Ya they still 100% pension and healthcare. We took a 7% pay cut and a week loss of vacation.
-
And 2 years to earn some vacation time...No thanks.
Even as a pond scum private first class I got 30 days a year in the military. -
Ya I know, ABF is having a hard enough time finding road and P&D drivers. This will make it harder.
-
The pay cut isn't permanent though right? I heard from somebody it steps back up a couple percent per year over the life of the next contract.
-
2 years to earn a week? Wow lol no wonder they are hiring P&D drivers like crazy
-
Yes they get a small amount back every year for 5 years until the end of the contract. That 2 year till vacation is a killer for me. I have thought about the change but I want my time off lol. Plus I don't think I'd want another LTL job though
