Yes it does but I think it's getting tougher for new hires to reap the benefits of seniority.

You're probably at a bad terminal. You're gonna have to weigh your options and determine if waiting to get some seniority under your belt is worth it or even feasible.
You might have lower quality health insurance you have to pay for somewhere else. But you might work more and that might equal things out.

There's gonna be pluses and minuses with every LTL company. Keep trying different ones out till you find the best one for your situation.
    Good luck

I work for ABF. Gave up 3 weeks vacation to come here. Get 1 week after two years and 2 weeks after 8. 3 personal days at 10hrs, 5 sick days at 8hr pay. Love it here, got sick last year...major medical deal. Was off 6 months, they paid my insurance whole time I was off plus when I came back I bumped into bid. Will make 90,000 this year working less than fifty hours a week. This is a terrible place to work....stay away. Been here a little less than 4 years working out of Carlisle Pa as a road driver. .60 cents a mile 24.10 an hour. 2500 miles a week plus hourly for building sets, breakdowns, billy bid rigger rolls it over and shuts down road...I get paid. Bills come out late, on clock, delayed at extra stop? Get paid to the minute. I hate it here! It is terrible....stay away!

As I said it depends on where you go. Your story is not the norm for drivers hiring in the past couple years AND I also said it depends on the terminal and area of the country you work in. You sound very happy and should count your blessings. Tell your story to someone that's run 2400 miles in 10 days. So take what I said out of context if you like, I'm a road driver too, you prob run from Carlisle to N Lima and the only way they paid your insurance is workmans comp. That's insurance not the company buddy.

The insurance must be a temp disability from your local. Where I am you don't get 3 punches in a week you go on cobra Unless it's workmans comp. Each local is different to do again if you were ill and not on workmans comp then you are very lucky that is NOT the norm. As far as your salary of 90k. Very good. Again not the norm.

Also getting a bid as early as you did. No wonder you are happy. Hope it last for you because terminal after terminal stories like yours are becoming less and less. You talk of the ABF that once was except the medical thing is not clear and makes no sense. Keep your job listening to you hell they cant get any better!

You must not work at ABF. You have no clue what you are talking about. Central Pa teamsters coverage whole time I was off. Not a penny out of pocket. Company paid for it since I was with them over a year. Reduced union dues since I was out sick. If you work here, what terminal are you out of?

Yah that's your local. I said it must be your local. Each local is different and no way the company paid UNLESS it was workmans comp. Hey I'm glad you are so blessed at 042, but you better get out more, what many of us are experiencing is coming your way. Sorry to burst your bubble. Let's just say I work west of you.

Was your illness related to a work injury?

We certainly don't make someone wait 3 years before they get any paid vacation.
