Finally moving. Off to Salt Lake. Got a deadhead already to Colton CA. Wally World load back to Gordonsville. This trip except the wait in Cheyenne, have had some good teaching moments. Really cant do that teaming. Anyone can drive truckstop to truckstop. Hitting a dock twice a day and doing trip plan daily is how Abilene runs. Yes solo drivers do get the occasional 3 day trip but by and large its usually between 400 and 900 miles to your delivery. So a day or day and half deliver then get reloaded and head out. Rinse. Repeat. Allthat equals a solo driver getting well above 3000 per week.
Im done trying to train and team drive. Its bad for the student and its hell on the trainer to try and sleep and do everything else. Can I get an Amen?

I know when I started this thread I was all gung ho trying to find a teammate. I had never teamed before and it was different and fun with Terry. I have had the change of heart so to speak. Its just not for me. I enjoy the daily sense of accomplishment of making my delivery and getting reloaded with the hours ticking down. I would say that its too monotonous for me. I had an epiphany yesterday and I am going to tell amx I will train the Northeast. We could run a load up everyday and be back running supersolo. With the stop pay, the NYC pay, and the Northeast pay bonus I think I could make it work. The student would still get good mileage pay and excellent experience.
I voiced my opinion about the dangers of paying a trainee team pay to Sally. Theres no incentive to get out of training. I strongly feel the trainees need to be put on a fixed payscale.gntorres61 and runningman0661 Thank this. -
Our appt in Colton was for 1300. At 8am we received a qcomm message that it was preloaded and ready. So we beat feat down here to be told ahhh no. Not even close to being ready. Sent a nasty gram back to dispatch asking if the source of their info was the same source that told us Iraq had WMD's?!?!
Now sitting in overflow lot purgatory limbo. You can do a lot to me but when you lie...you better have your medical benefits paid current. I am soooooo over this crap.gntorres61 and YardDart Thank this. -
Well we are on our way out of CA thank God. Its a miracle that it scaled out and I didnt have to touch a thing. Thought I was going to have to sneak out of the state illegal once again. Breakin the law!!!!
At least we came here from SLC down 15 and saw the amazing canyons in AZ. Bright lights of Las Vegas. They drive like theyre all from Jersey!! All good were eastbound and down! The Challenger, YardDart and gntorres61 Thank this. -
We are clearing througj Knoxville now on schedule but a little early. Ran 684 miles today in 10hrs and 28 min in a 68mph truck. Pretty good avg if I say so myself. Word of caution dont eat burritos in West Memphis!!!
I had another talk with Sally today. I will be training the Northeast region. Starting with George. No more freakin team training. I have to sit down with Scott tomorrow and work out the particulars. Fingers crossed they make the compensation right. Or they can scrape team operation off the door of this truck and ill go solo again. If Bill tries to switch my truck it will only happen after he beats me in a cage fight...gntorres61, runningman0661 and YardDart Thank this. -
Hurry up, get George up here to snowy and cold Butler Pa, it's wonderful this time of year.
