Craig, all it would take would be for someone to come in at contract time and under bid us with every possible promise in the world. It happened when I was at Calex, JB came in, undercut our rates and the following week we were bobtailing there removing all our empties, to the tune of 40 lost loads per week. I don't know the inside scoop on what type of marriage we have with the coolers, but it is refreshing to see all our trailers there and knowing on a Monday morning we have almost 300 loads being delivered, picked up or enroute. When they are done at Sabra with the expansion we will see double the loads, that's another marriage that works well for us, nationwide, to the tune that I heard recently we are getting in 100 new reefers.

No arguement there. I agree. It is logistically easy for us since we are right there for them. But business is business and it could go the way of the dodo. LL is finishing a brand new DC next to Hewlitt Packard by the airport. I found that very promising as well. I saw it on Thursday when I delivered. We go way back with them but it is a former acct of ours we lost and are back in with now but through a broker. We used to be direct. Dont know the details but Scott and I were talking about it the other day after I saw how bad two drivers treated them when I was onsite. Im no angel but at least I dont slide my axles on their scale or drive over the curb and lawn to uturn. Idiots. Those two drivers whoever they were need to be re-educated or booted from AMX!!!

What a joyous morning! Woke up in our Wytheville yard to watch an Abilene Volvo try to pull a loaded trailer out on the downhill side. He dug himself in at least 10". Went to Volvo and dropped. Had to bobtail back then Ol Deuce and I burned a shower credit. Hooked an empty 6344 to take to Gatorade. Everything was swell! Unfortunately this is where it went downhill quick! Went slide the tandems back and (lever, not air actuated) jumped out to smack the lever only to see an airline laying on the pavement. Got up under and the last driver had TIED the airlines to the frame of the trailer with a HP black strap!!!!! Voila!! Ripped lines. Used some duct tape and got it back to the yard and used more duct tape to cover the glad hands so no one else would hook it. Sent Trl Cond report in. Hooked 7284. No turn signals. Sent trl cond report #2 in. Awesome. Deuce is at the Wilco trying excorcise demons out of his GI tract. His choice. I will pick him back up when I scale this load in an hour or so! Its going around. He prob caught it from me or its the jinx from the black cat he squished with the drives last night!!
jungHo, The Challenger and gntorres61 Thank this. -
###### cat. I need to run his dead ### over again, but it's back to the northeast. RIP BLACKIE!!

Wait!!! You're not supposed to slide axles on the scale? I thought the movement of the scales made it easier...lol. My last company, flatbed, the CFO was trying to raise the rates. We lost a few accounts as they went the low bid route. After awhile the company came back as the lowballers couldn't provide the service up to standard.

Heehee! I like the way the scales jiggle when you slam on the brakes!!!
george and I are hiding out in the back lot at Mt Top. I just dropped and got my ppwk signed but not sending any qc messages until my 10 is up. Its 20 degrees and flurrying up here at the top of the world. Getting a much needed sleep. Heck my truck is even idling!!! Weve both been running on about 4hrs of sleep a night and it has caught up to us. QC muted, phone on DND!!! Good night all!The Challenger and jungHo Thank this. -
Hey JB I was talking to Bill 2 weeks ago and he said that we were waiting Del of 50 new refers that was ordered. I just hope we don't turn into refer only company.

Wow. How stupid of an idea to siphon 100 gallons of fuel. I guess they thought you are now a company of one. If that load was that important get one of the local guys with a day cab take it up and get hin a hotel if he can't make it back. Solves the weight issue as well. Just my 2 cents but I'm just a driver.
QUOTE=BigBrin;3897321]Got to the yard about 1530 yesterday and fueled up. Still hadnt got a new load and I stayed hooked to my empty dry van in case I was headed to LL. Called Brett and got a load of brake pads going to Kutztown, PA. Drove OD to Pilot showered and ate back to yard. Hooked the trailer and ran it across the scales. Tandems all the way to the rear and 36000. Had Marlon unload and reload entire trailer. Ran it across and it was fixed. One problem though! I didnt total the wts the first time but I did the 2nd time. 80600. Told dispatch and pull me off it! Chris comes out to truck and tells me to go to the shop they are going to siphon 100 gal of fuel out of my tanks!!Can you believe that crap!?!? So I called Scott to CYA myself. He said stupid and him and Allen smacked some peabrains around. End result I was removed from the load and Chris dumped it in Bo's lap to deal with. Still sitting here with no load as of now...i have hometime starting tomorrow night. Just may logout and go home now!!![/QUOTE]BigBrin Thanks this. -
There is certainly more to trucking than what meets the eye! You guys sure do deal with a lot of issues! Sheesh! Maintenance needs, messed up tandems, dispatcher flub ups, lack of consideration and lack of consistency, etc., etc.. I applaud each one of you for your efforts and extreme dependability!!!! Where would America be without you men and women? Thank you for hanging in there. Safe travels and may you at least occasionally get the load and location you enjoy! A special shout out to Johnboy and BigBrin for showing George the ropes and sharing your expertise!
BigBrin Thanks this.
